After The Lord Mayors Show

Sunday 22 June

After the frenzy of Royal Ascot, just one horse today - Mathematician highlighted Full Of Zest at Hereford as being worth a small interest each way. Didn't see the race but he seemed to live up to his name, leading until two out before weakening quickly out of it.

Elsewhere Italy were despatched from Euro 2008 on penalties by Spain, and deservedly so, and I will record my losing ante-post bet today.

Bit of good news, Paul Jones gave out an each way on Knot In Wood at 16/1 last week, finished 4th but I missed it when I was putting my figures together this morning, and the profit of £300 on the bet means I can record a small green figure today.

Profit on day £50

Will have to watch Wimbledon if I want to see any grass tomorrow afternoon as the two race meetings scheduled are at Lingfield and Wolverhampton. Nice touch, anyone would think it was the middle of winter. Still, if one of my services can find a winner tomorrow I won't be complaining too much.

Aussies Come Good !!

Saturday 21 June

Profitable day thanks to my bets on the Aussie football. Always a nice feeling to wake up on a Saturday morning to find you're over a grand better off than when you went to bed !

As far as the horses are concerned, it was another miserable day for Blue Sky Racing. Results certainly aren't what I expected so far but I'm with them until the end of October so let's hope things turn round because they certainly need to, David Lyons talks a good game ! Yesterday they gave out three horses Spanish Moon, Sakhee's Secret and Amarjit and they all ran dismally.

Much better things from Optimum who gave out yet another winner with Looks Busy at Ayr, just prevailing by a short head - been on the wrong end of enough close ones this week so good to get one going my way.

SLH gave out Seaway in the first at 7/2, ran a good race in second but couldn't live with the royal winner Free Agent.

Mathematician's best of the day was in the last ay Ayr with Valdan, showed up well for a long way before fading.

Weatherbys spotlighted the Golden Jubilee Stakes and among the horses shortlisted were War Artist (2nd, 11/1) and Sir Gerry (3rd, 22/1) so won a few quid on the each way on the latter.

Nothing doing with any of the marks on the other races today but a decent profit on the day.

Inching Forward

Friday 20 June

Another busy day, but overall just a small profit to report despite some decent runs.

Blue Sky had four bets today, an each way on Infallible advised last week at 9/2 - drifted out to 11/2 on the day and finished second behind the very impressive Lush Lashes. Two other bets at Royal Ascot ran shocking races with Hebridean and Ebadiyan both finishing last - Paul Jones also very keen on Ebadiyan so a double blow for me there. The final Blue Sky horse ran at Newmarket and I managed a winner with Rose Diamond, backed into evens from the early 9/4.

Optimum advised an each way bet on All The Aces, just failed to collect the each way money as the horse came in 4th beaten a neck for third place. Very frustrating as this followed hot on the heels of SLH's advice on African Skies in the first which also came in fourth, beaten 1/2 length for the place money at 20/1 - can drive you up the wall this game at times.

Mathematicians best of the day was also Ebidayan, but I already had this selection covered.

Weatherbys guide focussed on the Coronation Stakes. shortlisting Spacious and Modern Look, nothing doing here either with both horses unplaced.

As I've been doing all week, I also backed the other marks from Optimum, SLH and Mathematician and this paid dividends with SLH finding Superseus, a 14/1 winner (rule 4) and an each way on Jedburgh at 20/1, finished third beaten less than a length.

No Good At All

Thursday 19 June

Despite two winners from my services today, way too many losers elsewhere meant a big losing day for me.

Blue Sky had three bets on the day, the first one was a win bet on South Central which just prevailed at 11/4 in the first. The other bets from Blue Sky ran disappointingly with Virtual and Daraahem both advised each way but both finishing unplaced.

Paul Jones was keen on Geordieland each way, advised ante-post at 14/1, notified on Blue Sky's website. Horse ran very well to finish second. Much debate on the telly today about the tactics employed on the horse. My view is he wouldn't have won whether or not Kelly hung on to him until the final furlong.

SLH had two account bets today, with Keepitsecret a winner at Towcester at 4/1, and a loser in Redford in the Britannia. The all weather bet was Azygous, unplaced at Great Leighs.

Isiris gave another losing insider bet with Missioner advised each way running well down the field.

Not a good day for Mathematician, the tone of his e-mail wasn't confident and he was correct with bets on Changing Skies, Pampas Cat, Kensington Oval and Viscount Rossini all going astray.

As yesterday, I also backed the extra info from Maths, Optimum and SLH but today I couldn't land a winner to boost the coffers. Best was Masaalek, drawn on the far side in the Britannia, beaten half a length at 20/1, Spin Cycle 9/1 second beaten a head.

Had a shocker on the football as well, with Germany knocking out Portugal to sink my ante post bet on them as well as tonights bet. Still got Italy running for me but not confident of collecting.

Another round of Aussie football coming up this weekend, and looking to return to winning ways there.

Level on the week again

Wednesday 18 June

Blue Sky advised two more horses today, both in the same race and following two second places on Tuesday, the frustrating run goes on as Lucky Leigh (16/1), and Sugar Free (11/1) given out each way were 4th and 5th - a neck and a head away from the frame, Lucky Leigh on the wrong side and just done out of third place. But it's another losing day for Blue Sky.

Isiris gave a strong insider bet on Sixties Icon, but the horse ran poorly and trailed in a well beaten last.

Mathematician didn't advise an account bet, however his best of the day was an each way double on Duke of Marmalade with Coastal Path in the Ascot Gold Cup on Thursday, so chance of a decent return on the bet if Coastal Path wins.

Had plenty of other bets on Wednesday as I followed all of Mathematician's advice in his e-mail at Ascot as well as SLH and Optimums Ascot information, this proved to be a good decision as Optimum highlighted Langs Lash (won 25/1), and SLH gave two in the Hunt Cup including Royal Power, backed it at 40/1 and finished third beaten 2 necks.

Away from Ascot SLH gave an each way bet on Eljay's Boy at Worcester. Horse ran very well to finish third and land me the place part of my bet at 14/1. SLH's all weather bet was Rowan Rio at Kempton. Didn't see the race but looking at the result, doesn't look like I ever had much chance of collecting.

Royal Ascot - Day One

Tuesday 17 June

First of five days at Royal Ascot, and a busy day as you would expect. A losing day to report with only a couple of wins and too many seconds.

Star of the show, not for the first time recently was Mathematician. No account bet advised but he gave a positive to Haradasun in the first, an 11/2 winner. Decided to bet everything in his e-mail, other winner was Ravens Pass (betting without Henrythenavigator), and got an each way place on Lord Shanakill at 14/1.

Two bets from Bluesky given out today, and their frustrating run goes on, with Mamlook (9/1 e/w) and Cavallini (win 2/1) both finishing second. Mamlook beaten a head.

The Bluesky ante-post bet given out the other day in the first was on Linngari, unplaced having met trouble in running, and Paul Jones who has hooked up with Blue Sky fot the summer had Tariq in the same race.

SLH gave out minimum stakes each way bets on Hoh Mike and Stubbs Art both at 20/1+. Hoh Mike ran a fine race to finish fifth, Stubbs Art unplaced. Steve's other bet was a win bet on Liberate at 11/2 (finished third, beaten a head and a short head).

Isiris gave an each way main account bet on Ravens Pass at 15/2, finished second returning a fair profit on the bet.

Did the placepot today but went down in the second leg. No bets on the football.

Calm Before The Storm

Sunday 15 June

No horses at all today, with all my services taking the day off or being unable to find anything so just a losing football bet from me today. Looked like things were on my side as I had Turkey and Argentina in a double, Turkey turned things round in the last few minutes but Argentina were terrible in their match at home to Ecuador, equalising with the last kick of the match - but no good to me unfortunately.

Loss on day £100

Monday 16 June

Just one horse today, with SLH going each way on Moyne Pleasure at Sedgefield. Took the advised 9/1 and the horse came in third.

Elsewhere, my biggest bet on Euro 2008 came unstuck - lumped £300 on Austria to finish bottom of their group, but missed out as they came in third on goal difference above Poland after both teams lost 1-0. Just one goal in it and some gilt edged chances missed by both Poland and Germany which might have seen me collect, but not to be. Still well up on the tournament so far and plenty of time yet to add to that.

Catching Up Again

Thursday 12 June

A busy day on the services but a disappointing one, with just one winner advised.

Three bets from Blue Sky with Warringah a 7/2 winner the best, other bets were Melodramatic (2nd) and Ejeed (unplaced).

Optimum gave out two each way bets, both in same races as Blue Sky, Burn The Breeze was unplaced but Inchwood came second to Warringah at 11/2.

No account bet from Mathematician, but he liked Sforzando at Newbury at 11/1, but again this finished unplaced.

Isiris advised an each way insider bet on Cellarmaster at Uttoxeter, but again this was unplaced. They also advised a losing bet on Double Duty in the first at Newbury, but I was busy and missed the call which saved me £200.

Finally my two plays on the Euro2008 football were losers as well, backed the Germans to beat Croatia, and went for over 2.5 goals in the Austria game.

A day to forget.

Loss on day £655

Friday 13 June

Nothing to get excited about again today, with just a placed each way bet from Blue Sky offering any returns.

Blue Sky gave out two bets, Opera Prince a loser at Goodwood and an each way on Joy's Island at Clonmel. Advised at 8/1 but that wasn't achievable, could only get on at 6/1 with Hills, although I comfortably beat the 4/1 SP.

Optimum took a punt on Green Wadi at a big price, with a minimum stakes each way bet at 20/1 - ran well enough to finish in the first half dozen without every threatening to collect.

Mathematician advised an account bet on Kyllachy Storm at 4/1, finished unplaced at Chepstow.

Again I managed to miss a loser today, SLH advised a win bet on Ghengis at Aintree but I was busy in the evening and missed the callback.

Loss on day £350

Saturday 14 June

Much better today.

Optimum returned to winning ways with an each way bet on Military Power at York, winning at an SP of 7/1. Given out at 8/1, but I was travelling to York when the message was given and only got 7/1 with Bet 365.

Elsewhere, Blue Sky gave out two bets - an each way on Mohanad at York, finished second. The other bet was on Mudslinger at Limerick. Advised at 6/1 each way, but the price had gone by the time I got the message and I let the horse run unbacked. Finished unplaced at an SP of 3/1.

Losing account bets from Mathematician with My Learned Friend unplaced at Sandown, SLH had Maxwil finished third, and Isiris an unplaced insider bet at York.

Maths also gave a positive to Little Pete at Leicester, finished second.

Rest of the profits on the day came from Euro2008. Backed Spain to win their group and also had the Spain / Portugal double, both bets landed with a round to spare.

My bets on the Aussie football weren't so hot this weekend but overall it was a very good day.

Treading Water

Wednesday 11 June

A winning bet from SLH on the all weather with Solo Attempt at 4/1, unfortunately offset by a losing main account bet from Isiris - each way unplaced and two suggestions from Mathematician neither of which did the business.

The Optimum main account bet was a non-runner.

Personal trading, I backed Portugal to win their group in Euro 2008 at 11/8, and this is now a winner after just two rounds of matches and another £110 in the bin.

Three Days Later...

Couple of busy days workwise, and a lazy day on Sunday mean I have three days worth of results to catch up with....

Sunday 8 June

Not a good day for the tipping lines today but I was in good form with my football picks on the Euro 2008 games.

SLH is not in the best of form at present, and that continued with two bets given, Aberdeen Park each way , and Croft to win both at Worcester and neither ever looking likely to collect.

No other bets from any of my services so I played on the football.

Got everything spot on, £180 on Croatia at 5/6, £110 on under 2.5 goals in the Germany game at 10/11. £25 correct score singles on 1-0 and 2-0 in both games and 4 £10 doubles on the same scores, all correct for a very nice pick up on the evening.

Profit on day £487

Monday 9 June

A poor day again for my services with Isiris giving out a losing insider bet on Missioner, beaten a short head by Formation at Pontefract.

Blue Sky advised a win bet on Flying Lady who didn't live up to her name and was only 4th.

Nothing from SLH or Optimum and no account bets from Maths, but three horses highlighted in his e-mail - nothing doing here either with a losing each way double, and losing bets on Aegean Prince and Chantilly Tiffany (e/w at 10/1 - 4th).

No joy on the footy today either as my only bet was a £100 single on Italy, least said about that the better.

Loss on day £700

Tuesday 10 June

Today was more like it, with good winners from both SLH and Mathematician, and a bit of good fortune just to make things taste even sweeter.

SLH had nothing this afternoon so I rang back for his evening update, where he advised an each way bet on Cyd Charisse at Southwell at 6/1. Coming to the last in the lead, she was joined by Benmadigan who was jumped into by Olmato Collonges - stopping both of them in their tracks and allowing Cyd Charisse to go on and win the race at an SP of 7/2. Nice !!!

Mathematician had no account bet, but once again showed he remains in top form with the only race highlighted in his e-mail the 7.45 Chester. The recommended bet was on Daaweitza, with a saver on Gallantry. Daaweitza got up to win in the last few yards to deny Gallantry, and a winner for me at 8/1. Don't do exactas, but in this case it paid £96.10 which would have been nice for a tenner. But not going to be greedy, a superb day and just what was needed to get the month back on track.

Nothing doing in the football tonight, too busy at work to have a good look at it and I wasn't going to sit through Greece v Sweden without a financial interest on it.

Disappointing Day

Saturday 7 June

No luck on Derby day as Isiris and Optimum's ante-post advices were both beaten (Curtain Call and Doctor Freemantle respectively).

Three bets from Blue Sky all went down and all ran poorly - Lazy Days, Rossini Dancer and Berry Baby.

Two insider bets from Isiris, both given each way - a second at 15/2 (beaten a head), and an unplaced at 5/1 added to the losses.

SLH had an each way on Borora at Worcester, but as is the way of each bets it came in 4th.

Got a bit back with Mathematician giving mentions to Wait For The Will (DH 1st), and Runaround Sue (won 8/1, rule 4).

Finally, had a bet on the first two Euro 2008 matches, got the first one right with draw half time and Czech's full time at 4/1. No good in the Portugal game though, as I fancied goals and had a punt on Portugal 3-2 at 25/1. This weekends Aussie football bets weren't much good either although no damage done.

Loss on day £889

Profitable Day Again

Friday 6 June

A good day with the highlight being a winning maximum bet from Isiris on Soldier Of Fortune at Epsom. However the ante-post each way bet on Clowance went west with the horse coming in 4th.

Elsewhere, Blue Sky advised Jumbo Rio each way at Wexford, finished second with the front two well clear of the rest.

Mathematician advised an account bet on Valdan at Doncaster, with a saver on March Mate. Valdan was unplaced with the saver finishing second, advised at 16/1 but backed win only. Also highlighted the chances of Flying Valentino and The Gaikwar, who both ran good races at double figure prices, but nothing to add to the profits.

SLH advised a win bet on Mystickhill on the all weather at Wolves (finished last), and an each way double on Fastha and Lee Miller - both placed for a small profit on the bet.

Profit on day £256

A profit is a profit !!

Thursday 5 June

Another quiet day with Mathematician highlighting Dickie Le Davoir (e/w), a winner at 4/1, Chanteuse De Rue unplaced, and an each way double on La Vecchia Schiola and Acapulco Bay - 1st and 3rd. SLH put up Ground Patrol on the all weather, unplaced.

Profit on day £6

Winning Wednesday

Wednesday 4 June

Just a couple of bets today. Blue Sky advised an each way on Three Way Stretch at Leopardstown, a winner at 7/2.

Only other action on the day from SLH with a bet on the all weather, Green Lagonda unplaced at Kempton.

Profit on day £320

Tuesday, 3 June 2008

Losing Day

Tuesday 3 June

Very little to report today, Mathematician gave a favourable mention to Smoothly Does It at Ripon, SLH gave Gracie's Gift on his all weather line (ran very poorly, didn't face the kickback apparently), and SLH also advised a lay of Nelson Du Ronceray at Sedgefield which held on to win.

Elsewhere Blue Sky were keen on Wohaida at Folkestone but only at an each way price and that wasn't there, which was just as well as it got a lousy ride from Darrell Holland and finished 5th.

Following on from yesterday, the phone service Isiris use suffered a nationwide failure yesterday meaning that they couldn't update any of their lines during the day. Worked to my favour in the end as the proposed main account bet finished unplaced and, therefore, saved me £400.

Loss on day £234

Monday, 2 June 2008

Good run goes on, but what happened to Isiris ?

Monday 2 June

Things continue to go very well here, thanks to Optimum today who advised an each way on Dona Alba - and landed me another 14/1 winner !!

Elsewhere an each way from Blue Sky on Danae at Leicester, and another narrow defeat - this time a neck and so a small loss on the bet.

Mathematician put up a message for one horse, Complete Frontline - unplaced at Carlisle.

Was looking forward to a main account bet from Isiris today and duly rang for the bet at the appointed time, no message there, rang twice more and still no update and so I'd used up all my "lives" for today and couldn't ring again.

Rang the back up line and no update on there either. I managed to get through to a message KB left at 2.15 sometime after 5pm and he said they had had major problems with their phone systems (the mark your card line hadn't updated either when I checked that at about 4.30).

So whether an account bet was given and whether anyone managed to get on it or not, I don't know at this time. I'm guessing not but I will confirm when I update the blog again tomorrow. One of those things, see what KB has to say about it later on.

Winning Weekend

Saturday 31 May

The anticipated busy day failed to materialise with account bets from both Optimum and Mathematician being declared as non-runners after they were advised.

Was left with two each way bets from Blue Sky, Mohaned who was unplaced at Doncaster drifting from the advised 9/1 out to an SP of 14/1 - ran creditably finishing sixth, about three lenghts from the places. The other bet was Misty Island at Tramore who just failed to get up for a win at 5/1, failing by a short head so just a minimal profit on the place.

SLH advised an each way double on Seaway (2nd) and Light Hearted (4th) both at Doncaster, the latter failing by a head to land a place and to get my stake money back.

However I did make a good profit on the day with my bets on the Australian football placed on Friday night. Good money to be made here during the summer and so it was this weekend with plenty of winning bets, and just one team drawing letting me down for a 50/1 acca.

Profit on day £472

Sunday 1 June

Start of a new month and quite a busy day with action from Blue Sky, Isiris and SLH.

Blue Sky came up with Mr Anderson, a very easy winner at Kilbeggan at 2/1. The other advices both lost with Corkage a disappointment in the first at Perth for SLH, and the Isiris each way bet finished 4th, altough well beaten.

Again todays profit was down to me as I managed to find the French Derby winner Vision D'Etat, he was among the three I backed in the race and I got 14/1 for my money as he just held off the late challenge of Famous Name.

Profit on day £212

So despite a horrendous start to May, I managed to turn things around and showed a profit of £77 on the month. Of course were every month to turn out like that, then I would give up now. Fortunately though, that's not how it works and I'm very much looking forward tho this month with plenty of decent racing with the Derby and Royal Ascot being the highlights.

The annual profit is just short of £4000, which is someway short of where I want it to be. But 3 weeks ago I was £1200 down on the year and it wasn't looking too clever at all.

But you just have to keep everything in perspective and know that in the long-term it will all work out. It's only money !!!
