Quiet Start to the Week

Monday 28 July

Just a couple of horses from SLH on the All Weather today, with Swords managing to win despite the limitations of its rider, and Tyrannosaurus Rex unplaced in the following race.

One horse from Tipping Legends today, Davorin each way at Galway - up there for a while before fading out of contention.

Couple of plays on the Scandi football, a winner and a loser, and all in all it adds up to not very much.

Profit on day £26

As I said yesterday, I'm away for a few days from tomorrow and so there will be no blog updates until next Tuesday or Wednesday.

All being well I should be able to pick up the tips most days so here's to a good week.

Not A Super Sunday

Sunday 27 July

Another hot day up here in Yorkshire but not such a hot day for my account.

Just one from the Tipping Legends, All The Good at Ascot, advised each way at 10/1 and missing the places by one in finishing fourth. This has happened countless times this summer, but you have to put up with these things. Drive you mad if you let it.

An insider bet from Isiris, the obvious one at Carlisle Beauchamp Wizard at 11/4 each way against the odds on Tartan Gigha in an 8 runner race. As luck would have it, one refused to go into the stalls and so the field reduced to seven and only two places. Fortunately still managed to bag the second place, well beaten by the short shot despite the winner hanging violently left handed.

Mathematician's best was Caffari at Pontefract, finished 4th.

Personal bets today were on the Scandi football where an 88th minute goal did me for £450. Marvellous.

Nothing doing on the Golf this weekend either, so I'll book those losses today as well.

Loss on day £727

Decided to put a counter on the blog this week, and heartened to see how many people actually stop here to have a read. Very much appreciated and any comments are always more than welcome.

Coming up this week is Glorious Goodwood. I'm away on holiday for a few days with the lads from Tuesday so there will be plenty of betting, cards and general wasting of money to be done. Bound to be a very busy week on the tipping front so I will try and make as many of the calls to the tipsters as I can. Will be a great week anyway, hope it's a profitable one as well.

Close To A Great Day

Saturday 26 July

Managed to win just over £200 on the Aussie football overnight which is always a good way to start the day.

Loads of action on the horses as you would expect on a Saturday.

Tipping Legends put up seven horses, but the only return was an each way on Giganticus, 3rd at 16/1.

Profitable but very frustrating day for us Isiris members. Kevin put up Papal Bull each way for the King George ante-post. Advised at 14/1, shortened up during the week but drifted back to that price on Saturday. I've yet to see the race but Papal Bull finished second, beaten half a length by Duke of Marmalade the pair finishing 9 lengths in front of the third. I understand Papal Bull traded at 1.1 in running, so narrowly missed out on a £3500 payday.

More angst for Isiris followers as Kevin on-line on Saturday evening with an each way insider priced between 25/1 - 33/1. Kielty's Folly was the horse in question, each way 1234 and of course the damn thing came in fifth, although at least it wasn't a close fifth - that would have been a major kick in the teeth.

Optimum's account bet Ellemujie could only manage 3rd place. Nothing again from SLH, and no account bets for Mathematician but both Grand Annee and Always Bold were given positive mentions in his e-mail and both won to continue his great run this week.

Finally, flags out at Blue Sky where they finally gave out another winner, Palace Moon at 11/10.

Friday Flops

Friday 25 July

Bit of a reverse Friday after a decent run so far this week.

Nothing doing from any of the four selections from Tipping Legends, three win bets and an each way advised but no returns on any of them.

Isiris gave out an insider bet on Sea Crest, ran a fine race to finish second to Secret Venue beaten just a neck.

Adding in losing bets from SLH and Mathematician and it was a day to be quickly forgotten. Still at least I saved £400 by not backing the latest two Blue Sky selections.

Profitable Again

Thursday 24 July

Three decent priced winners today, but the staking levels used by the services meant it was a fairly small profit on the day as all the biggest bets lost.

Two more winners from Mathematician (5 from 5 in the last 3 days now) with Desperate Dan at 7/2 and Bosun Breese each way at 5/1 (couldn't get the 6/1).

Three horses given out by the Tipping Legends with Resplendent Ace a winner at 7/1, then Expensive Art second at 9/1 - unable to peg back Dvinsky who they thought would set up the race for a strong finisher, well almost !

The other Tipping Legends horse was an each way on Isabella Grey each way in the Sandown 3.20, Optimum also played each way in this race with Maid For Music. Nothing doing from either and a couple of decent sized bets went astray and I lost £500 on the race.

Other bet of the day was a losing insider bet from Isiris.

Didn't bet them but for the record, Blue Sky put up two horses each way in Ireland 11/2 2nd and 7/2 3rd, so no movement on the account.

Onwards and Upwards

Wednesday 23 July

Another very good day. Tippng Legends found Hypnosis, a 6/1 winner and also advised Vintage each way, second at 8/1 beaten by his outside draw. Three other win bets advised which finished third, third and fourth.

Mathematician advised two bets, an account bet on The Hoofer which won the Leicester seller at 7/1 and also gave mention to City For Conquest, advised each way, a 4/1 winner.

SLH had one account bet, Gurteenoona, still going well disputing the lead when falling at the third last. Unfortunately the horse was fatally injured in his fall.

Decent Run Goes On

Tuesday 22 July

Oh the ups and downs of this game. 6 straight losing days last week and now 4 winners in the last 5.

Not much action today with three tips and two horses.

Just the one from Tipping Legends, Mount Hermon a winner at Great Leighs - got the 11/2 advised earlier in the day, backed down to 7/2.

Mathematician and Isiris both rowed in with the same horse - Distiller at Bangor, got 11/10 to my money against an SP of 5/6 - had to be ridden and wasn't fluent at the last but always looked like holding on.

Another day, another loser for Bluesky - Scalloway advised each way at 9/2, drifted to an SP of 8/1 and came in 9th of 10 finishers, unbacked by me.

Will reply to latest comments tomorrow.

Bye Bye Blue Sky

Monday 21 July

Well the start of another week, with two bets put up by the Tipping Legends - Look Busy at Ayr, advised each way getting up late to win at 12/1 and Malapropism also advised each way, keeping on well to finish third at 7/1.

Mathematician gave out an account bet at Yarmouth with a bet on Colton in the 5.15 and the saver on King Of Connacht. They finished third and fourth, staying on late without ever threatening to win the race.

Nothing from SLH or Optimum and an ante-post bet from Isiris given out today.

Finally, Blue Sky put up Coolnaharan at Ballinrobe. Horse at 7/2 in a 16 runner handicap chase advised each way. Piss poor selection, never put in the race and finished fifth. Good info boys, well done. Didn't back it, not interested so let it run. Had a good winning day and didn't want BS to spoil it for me.

Profit on the Golf but nothing else

Sunday 20 July

SLH put up September Moon each way at Newton Abbott, horse ran well and finished second at 9/1. Other horses today were President Park each way from Optimum and Herne Bay and Briteside from the Tipping Legends which were all unplaced, nothing else from any of my services.

As far as the Golf was concerned, Jim Furyk finished tied 5th, so my each way bet at 25/1 was landed with a deduction for dead heat, Robert Allenby and Anthony Kim finished in a nine way tie for seventh place, so the each way bets I had with Paddy Power at 45/1 and 50/1 had a return but much reduced by the dead-heat, indeed I didn't even get my stake back. However I only got a return of any description because KJ Choi took 8 at the last so no complaints. Had a good run through the tournament with Jim Furyk briefly tied for the lead on Saturday and Anthony Kim within two of the lead for an hour or so on Sunday before he faded over the closing holes.

Had a bet on the Scandi football this afternoon but nothing doing so an overall loss on the day.

And another good day

Saturday 19 July

Very busy and profitable day with over £1000 banked but things could have gone even better. However, a couple of good winning days at the end of a tough week has certainly raised my spirits.

Optimum racing remain in top form and their only bet of the day was Laterly at Ripon, a 9/2 winner for me backed in to an SP of 100/30.

SLH is also on a very good run at present, two bets from him at Market Rasen, a win bet on Nelsons Spice who just prevailed at 7/2 and the other bet was an each way on King Of The Arctic at 8/1. Very unfortunate here with late non-runners reducing the field to seven and therefore only two places paid - and of course as is always the case my horse duly finished third. Double agony for me as Isiris also advised an each way on the same horse so I lost twice.

Two other bets from Isiris on a busy day with more woe at Newbury, Strike The Deal advised each way at 7/1 came fourth (and again a double loss for me with Tipping Legends giving out the same bet). The other each way bet from Isiris was Becausewecan at Haydock, finished third backed from the early 10/1 into 11/2.

Two bets from Mathematician, both advised to win - Advancement finishing second and Balthazars Gift coming in third.

Busy day from the Tipping Legends with eight bets - only winner was Alnwick at 6/1, but places on My Paris and Ripples Maid both at 10/1 meant a good profit on the day.

Also made a couple of hundred on my Aussie football bets on Friday.

Finally the only blight on the day was once again Blue Sky, although to be fair might have been a bit unfortunate. Two bets given out a win bet on Oratory, finished second, and an each way on Elnawin at 14/1 which finished fourth having been slowly away and with the Racing Post reporting the rider lost his reins in the final furlong. But unlucky or not, another £400 loss.

Much Better

Friday 18 July

First winning day of the week with two of the four Tipping Legends selections winning - Opus Maximus at 7/1 and Knot In Wood at 7/2.

SLH gave one account bet, Vital Spark which won at 9/2.

Losing main account bet from Isiris (each way advised at 4/1 and came in 4th) and a loser from Mathematician rounded off the day with nothing from Optimum or Blue Sky.

Not a lot of time this morning, and will respond to recent comments on Sunday.

Another dreadful day and time to let off steam

Thursday 17 July

Another big losing day.

The Blue Sky story lurches from bad to worse with two more losers, and dodged another second place when their third advice failed to reach their price stipulation for a bet.

This is really getting serious now, and I have to consider at what point I will stop should things continue as they are. I am betting £200 (£100 e/w) on each bet so the losses are really climbing - just shy of £3000 down now, more than £2000 of that in the last week.

Don't know what to make of it all really.

Current month is truly desperate with only two winners from 19 bets - at 6/4 and 11/10 !!

Whole experience is a let down. Getting the advised prices is almost impossible, especially with the Irish horses they give. Prices crash as soon as the tip goes out - which is another bone of contention. The tips are supposed to go out at 11.30, however they are often on the website well before this (11.18 this morning) and so if I happen to be away from home, at work etc the selection has been available for 10 minutes before I can get it on the phone line.

One way round this is to receive the messages by SMS, which they are going to introduce in the next couple of weeks - and charge members 25p each for the privelege of receiving them !!

Final couple of points David Lyons, the guy who runs the service is a complete wanker. Here's an extract from the forum regarding the proposed SMS messaging service

drdave I would certainly sign up for a SMS service but would just like to be reassured that the tips would be up at exactly the same time by phone/computer and SMS to ensure a level playing field-seconds count when getting the prices .SMS would definitely save me time
Thanks
Dave

David Lyons I was born with 2 hands. I do the phone line, I do the website, the telephone company inform me I will/or my staff will have to input the data for the SMS, or do the phone line. If you wish to sleep with me there is a premium.

sconna David,
Great reply, it got me laughing !

agodored Sconna, I'm not laughing

Dave asked a valid question on whether the SMS would be posted alongside the web and phone line before signing up for the SMS

A simple reassurance from David that this would be the case would have sufficed.

So that's what we're up against. Plus what's happened to Paul Jones. I must be one of the few remaining clients who signed up via Paul who is still ringing in. Very disappointed that there is little or none of his input evident in the selections. Indeed only three selections of his have been flagged up so far, all at Royal Ascot - and two of them placed at double figure prices.

Maybe it's time I called it a day.

Elsewhere, two bets from SLH today both finished second - Honky Tonk Woman advised each way at 8/1, and Film Festival given out as a win bet at 4/1. Neither of them could peg back the winners of their races who were both given enterprising front running rides.

Tipping Legends gave out four horse all told today but nothing doing with any of them, and Mathematician gave out two selections as his best of the day, but both unplaced.

To lighten my mood somewhat, the Tipping Legends golf selections have made a promising start with all 4 still in contention, Robert Allenby (-1) is joint leader with Jim Furyk (+1), Anthony Kim (+2) and Justin Rose (+4) not far behind. All bar Rose are out early tomorrow so hopefully the conditions won't be as bad as they were this morning.

Finally did a bit of trading on the favourites on Betfair this afternoon, and things went very well with a profit of £212 helping to offset some of the days betting losses, altough I gave £50 away on the UEFA cup football tonight.

Loss on day £1041

Each Way Woe

Wednesday 16 July

Another main account bet from Isiris, a 5/2 each way and again I was restricted when placing my bets, although I did eventually get all the money on OK. Horse finished third so a loss on the bet.

Tipping Legends gave out 4 horses, 1 winner at 7/2 in Spanish Cygnet although a 15p rule 4 deduction meant I came out just behind on the day.

Optimum went each way on Jackday in the 5.0 Catterick, advised at 12/1 in the morning backed all the way down to an SP of 9/2, and extremely frustrating that the horse finished 4th - done for the third place by a 66/1 shot.

Similar story with SLH, who advised Karo De Vindency each way at 7/1 - and again frustratingly we finished 4th. Steve felt disappointed by the ride Grahmam Lee gave the horse, feeling he didn't ride out strongly enough for the place once the chance of winning had gone.

SLH's all weather bet was Moon Bound, unplaced at Lingfield.

Mathematician posted three bets, with a place back on Kirkammerton collecting in the first at Uttoxeter, but bets on Plavius and Montys Tan going west.

Brutal from Blue Sky

Tuesday 15 July

The poor start to the week continued and the wretched run of results from Blue Sky goes on and on, two more bets today Kritzia at Great Leighs and Total Excitement at Killarney, and both of them finished second. Both ran well enough, indeed Total Excitement looked to be coming through to take the race 2 out but couldn't find anything more and could only stay on at the one pace.

Losers are part and parcel of the game but they can't buy a winner at the moment, three seconds in the last 2 days and 5 in the last week. Something has got to change for them soon surely. £2400 down now on the Blue Sky account, not the start I was looking for when I joined. I'm now about half way through my sub with them, finish at the end of October and I will miss 4 weeks between now and then due to holidays, so things need to improve and fast.

Elsewhere, Isiris gave out a maximum bet at Great Leighs, Bazguy against Billion Dollar Kid (just odds on at the time the bet was given). A recent problem, re-surfaced again. Bet 365, who are normally pretty good with me, would only give me 50 e/w at the 11/4 advised. Asked for the remaining 250 e/w on Hills site, which then told me I had staked more than the maximum allowed on the bet, and then cut the price while I re-staked it, and then refused me again. In the end I had the 50 e/w and 200 to win on the horse, having wanted 300 each way initially. Horse finished third, and so a sizeable loss on the bet instead of a small one had I been able to get the bet I wanted. Knew this problem would eventually come along, but I'm going to have to work round it somehow.

Nothing at all today from Optimum or SLH, the other bets came from the Tipping Legends with just one advice on Numero Due, finished 4th at Beverley, and the one highlight of the day with Mathematician's only mention of the day given to Saviour Sand who won at 7/2 to prevent the day from being a total wipe out.

A Poor Start To The Week

Monday 14 July

As promised, I plan to do daily updates whenever possible from now on so here we go. Not a good day at all though.

Still no improvement in fortunes from Blue Sky with todays bet First Avenue, advised as a win bet at 2/1 beaten into second by a 33/1 shot, to take my losses with them over the £2000 mark.

Elsewhere, SLH had a losing day with Silver Sister backed from the early 8/1 into 11/4 well beaten and never in the race, and the all weather selection General Feeling finishing unplaced having blown the start and running very wide into the home straight.

Tipping Legends gave out three losers, best of which was Adage which came in third.

Mathematician advised a couple of small stakes bets including an each way on York Cliff at Wolves which won at 5/1.

Nothing from Isiris or Optimum today.

Sunday Story

Hi, and welcome to my blog update. Again I apologise for the lack of regular updates recently but here's what's been happening.

First of all, I've added another service to the portfolio - The Tipping Legends. They advise horse tips everyday, and golf tips once a week. Made a great start with them with an each way bet on Anthony Kim in the US golf last weekend - won by two shots and advised at 28/1. Their horses have been pretty good too with Jedidiah and Little White Lie both advised in the past week winning at 14/1. Nicely in profit already and the early signs are very good indeed.

Isiris have halted their decline of the last couple of months with a maximum bet landed when Venus Williams won Wimbledon (womens tennis one of KB's specialities), and a winning insider bet on Nahoodh at 16/1 (25p rule 4 applies) which has got the profit back to where it was a couple of months ago.

SLH's private service continues to tick over nicely with 4 winners in July from 9 bets including Green Manalishi and Toms Toybox the two bets advised this weekend both winning.

Same comment applies to Optimum Racing with another couple of winners from 7 bets advised since my last update, and a couple of each way near misses.

Mathematician has been a bit out of form, although the account bets as few as they've been have done well. He also had a 20/1 at Newmarket in midweek with Just Like A Woman.

Only Blue Sky continues to disappoint. I thought the 10/1 winner on Jumbo Rio they gave out a couple of weeks ago might be the start of better things but the loss is back to where it was before that was advised and I'm nearly £2000 down on their advices since I joined on 25 April (that equates to 10 points on my staking plan which is not disasterous by any means but I expect to see things improve over the next three months of my subscription, and reflect how they have done over the last couple of years). Their forum has been closed to public viewing following the well publicised blow up over their lack of winners last month and David Lyons abusive response to those members who dared criticise him).

Also been continuing to bet on the Aussie football with mixed sucess, poor day yesterday following on a couple of good weeks.

Overall the profit for the year has received a good boost this month thanks to the Golf and the winners mentioned above and now stands at £7499 which is not to be sniffed at. It's a fair way short of where I need to be if I am to make £24,000 this year but I am still more than hopeful that I can achieve it.

One thing to note is I'm starting to have one or two problems getting bets on now. Betfred don't seem to want to entertain any of my horse bets, offering £2.50 on an 8/1 chance which I wanted £50 on was their latest rebuff. Ladbrokes are restricting my Aussie football bets (offered me £1.09 on my £100 treble last week). Others are still giving me a decent service, just getting a bit wary now that things are starting to get a bit more difficult.

OK that's it for now. Next update Monday night after racing - I promise !!!

I'm Still Around !!

Hi,

Just a quick line to say I will update the blog in the next day or two.

Not going to list all the bets I've had in the last couple of weeks, just the edited highlights - of which there have been a few - and the current state of the account and how I feel things are going.

Intention will then be to update things at the very least every 2-3 days, and daily whenever possible.

Trying to not let this blog go by the wayside as so many others have this year, but I've had a lot on my plate in the last couple of weeks and so got a bit behind. Spent a few hours yesterday updating my records and I'll post all the details on here sometime this week.
