Saturday Seconditis

Saturday 29 November

One of those days today. Just two winners from loads of bets, out and about so I didn't get the best prices about the winners, four seconds including Khyber Kim in the last at Newbury who traded 1.06 in running under a confident ride by Paddy Brennan, hit the last, lost his irons and got beat less than a length - durrrrrr !!!

Couldn't find a single football bet that I liked so left it alone today. Golf looked promising overnight with Legends selection Tim Clark (20/1) 1 shot clear at the half way stage, but a dismal round of 76 means he's now way off the pace.

Looks like being the first losing weekend for a while unless something drastic happens tomorrow.

Bring On The Weekend

Friday 28 November

Got off to a bad start today but a couple of late winners ensured just a small loss on the day. The inexperienced rider of Martha's Kinsman also cost me, as he gave his horse far too much to do and only put the horse in the race when it was far too late. His first ride under rules, and not his finest hour.

Disappointing Day

Won A Fiver !!!

Wednesday 26 November

As on Monday, made a decent start to the day but it all drifted away and I finished up just £5 in front.

Seem to be making all my money at the weekends for the last few weeks - no complaints at all. If I can tread water during the week and kick on again on Saturday / Sunday that will do me fine. Wouldn't mind a few quid tomorrow though !

Man Of Mystery

Can I just direct you to the excellent blog hosted by Man Of Mystery - see link on the right.

Plenty of interesting articles to read, whether you're angle is betting or trading - and updated on a daily basis.

He also broadcasts a radio show live on the internet once a week where he interviews various bloggers or others involved in the world of internet betting or trading. Next one is due this Wednesday with Leon The Fixer from the Don't Give Up Your Day Job. Don't think I'll be around during the day, but will try and catch it on the replay later in the week. Enjoy the show mate !!

Man of Mystery has also teamed up with Adam Todd of Racing Traders to run a competition to win free use of the Racing Traders application. Have used this myself in the past and it is excellent.

Check out the link on the right, and I'm sure you'll find something of interest.

Clear to see I've had another great weekend

Had the eyes lasered on Friday, and I'm seeing now without glasses or contacts for the first time in 25 years !! Vision perfect in my right eye, left eye a bit inflamed but that will be OK so they tell me. Drops in the eyes every hour for now, and back again for another check up tomorrow.

So to this weekends action, and yet again another big profit to report.

Before I go any further, thanks to JC and Roger of the Tipping Legends for their help in getting the info to me whilst I couldn't see e-mails or texts. Much appreciated guys. Also sending my best to Graeme, who's not been at all well for the last few days, and is going to be out of action for a few more days. Get well soon mate.

Friday 21 November

Managed to get everything on despite not being able to see very much - had to put all the bets on with Bet365 as this was the only number I could remember off the top of my head. Missed the best prices about the winner, but at least I backed it !

Saturday 22 November

All the headlines were dominated by the Scoop 6, and I had a dabble in a couple of syndicates, one run by Maths and the other by Graeme. Maths came closest getting five right - going down in the fourth leg, but it was a bit of fun for two £50 bets and will look to have another go when the pot builds up again.

Busy day tips wise, as you would expect on a Saturday. Ultimately proved profitable but my biggest win was on my own football bets.

Isiris advised Crack Away Jack, on Thursday "The biggest odds against certainty of the year", and went in again yesterday on the same horse. Beaten into second, but KB still happy with the ante-post on the Champion Hurdle at 33/1. I'm not on this as it was given out when I was on holiday in September. Won't go into the rest of KB's message last night - except to say he backtracked somewhat from his original statement, and you have to wonder why he put it up.

All hail Pablo Larrazabal. Who ???? Well I don't know anything about him, but Tipping Legends put him up for the Hong Kong Open golf - 1pt each way at 100/1, and woke up this morning to find out he'd finised 4th, just two shots out of the lead, and a profit of over £1000 banked before I'd even got out of bed !!

Quieter day racing wise with only three of the services in action, and once again the Tipping Legends were right on the money with Endless Power, who just lasted home in the Grand Sefton at Aintree.

One Winner

Wednesday 19 November

Just the one winner today, courtesy of Tipping Legends - but missed the best of the prices about the winner and plenty of the losers also, and a problem with the Isiris phone system might have cost me a few quid as well.

Little Edward was beaten just a short head, and Red Alert Day was stopped in his run in the final furlong, debatable whether he would have beaten the winner though.

Work now finished for the week and so a day off tomorrow - next update on here will be tomorrow night. However I'm having my eyes lasered on Friday so probably won't be able to update again until after the weekend, depending on how things go.

Eventually tried again just before the off and the message had updated. Was too late to do anything with it though - would have probably have tried to get these on each way, however would have been debatable whether I would have got on as it was 2/5, 3/1, 22/1, 28/1, 33/1, 80/1, 200/1, 200/1 with the dead eight.

Back Where I Started !

Tuesday 18 November

Lost £370 yesterday, won £370 today.

10 bets given out, and two winners.

SLH has given five winners in the last week so it was about time that I backed one of them ! Advised a bet on Circus Rose at a minimum price of 15/2. At work and rang Bet 365 who were 7/1, so had the bet with Ladbrokes at 8/1. Delighted with the win until I found out the SP was 12/1, which Bet 365 would have paid me. Still, got on the right end of one of these the other week which made me £600 so got to take it on the chin. Also if I was still staking as last week I'd have only had £25 on it.

The other winner was from Mathematician - his advice in the 12.20 was Vanatina, with a saver on Tenancy, and it was the saver which came good at 7/1.

Nothing doing from any of the other bets which are listed below, and saved money when Isiris cancelled their scheduled main account bet at the very last minute - which finished unplaced.

Monday Muppetry

Monday 17 November

Last Monday wasn't one of my best days, but I've surpassed myself today. Totally forgot about ringing SLH's line till just after 3.50 this afternoon. Hoped that he hadn't given anything out, as today's racing was what you might call moderate - but no such luck. His advice today was a 1 point each way double (£50 e/w to me) on Pop Ahead and Norman The Great. Both around 3/1 when advised, and wouldn't you just know they both won at SP's of 4/1 and 9/4. So after missing out on £1200 last Monday, I missed around another £1000 today.

Not really sure what happened - the Isiris message goes out at the same time as Steve's at this time of year, and the Tipping Legends text came through at about the same time, and by the time I'd got their bets on I forgot about Steve !!

Missed winners before, but this was a sore one - really kicking myself, but it's gone and what can you do. Of course, none of the other tips won and so what should have been a good winning day turned into a dead loss.

Bets Advised

Graeme

New Beginning 0.5 pts e/w at 33/1 - 4TH (SP 14/1)

SLH

Pop Ahead / Norman The Great - 1 pt e/w double (both around 3/1, SP for account purposes - WON 4/1, WON 9/4

SLH - A/W

Cap St Jean - win bet, minimum price 9/2 - LOST (SP 11/2)

Tipping Legends

Pride Of Mine 0.5 pts e/w @ 12/1 - LOST (SP 12/1)
Matsunosuke 1pt win @ 7/2 - 4TH (SP 9/4)
Inchpast 1pt win @ 4/1 - LOST (SP 7/2)
(NB - no prices stipulated on text message)

Nothing from Isiris / Optimum / Maths

New Staking Plan

Just to go into some detail about the new staking plan, which began yesterday.

Up to Friday, I was working on the following stakes

Optimum £25 per point (max 10pts)
SLH £25 per point (max 10pts)
Isiris £25 per point (max 12pts)
SLH A/W £100 level stake per bet
Tipping Legends £50 per point (max 3pts)
Maths £50 per mention, £100 per account (£50), £200 per account max (£100)
Graeme £50 per point

Been off sick this week after my accident so took some time to re-read one or two of my old racing books, and found this plan which Clive Holt used to use on course. I’ve played around with one or two of the numbers, but I’m happy with how it looks.

Basically, getting fed with backing each ways that finish fourth (getting on for 40 of those this year now !!), and also backing decent priced winners to small each way stakes with the winnings then swallowed up by losers which I’ve had more on. Also a lot of the Isiris main account bets are “clever” each way races (ie with an odds on fav) and I’m struggling to get these accepted now.

Obviously the higher stakes are on the shorter prices, which will win more often, but when I do land on a decent priced winner then I’ll get the reward for it.

This is the new plan....I get the info off the tipsters, then do the best I can with the price – hopefully one of the firms that guarantees best odds will be best about my horse and I’ll get on with them

Worked well yesterday with European Dream, the advice from Tipping Legends was 0.5 pts e/w @ 12/1 which would have been £25 e/w. Couldn’t get the 12/1, but had £60 win @ 10/1, and with Joe Lively – had 2 x £80 win bets on him....lovely !!

Great Work Graeme !!!

Sunday 16 November

Top tipping again from Graeme who gave out four selections today. Two from two at Cheltenham with Pablo Du Charmil (advised at 12/1). Late out of my pit this morning but managed to get £21 on with Boylesports (wouldn't let me have anymore) with the rest on Betfair. Also put up Numide (again missed the 11/2) but got on with Bet 365 at 9/2 who paid me out at the 5/1 SP. The other two given out were Pascha Bear (unplaced) and The Risky Viking (advised each way at 22/1) and misses the places by one - which has never happened before. Backed it win only so no harm done to me.

Isiris had a main account bet winner with the shorty Tatenen at 4/6, with cover on Crescent Island at 15/2.

Optimum went with Tramantano, finished second to Pablo Du Charmil - made a couple of mistakes on the way round but was well beaten in the end.

SLH advised Queen Excalibur in the Fontwell 2.05 at 15/2 - a very poor race as he highlighted. Got the front two beat, but we didn't Gotontheluckyone (that doesn't quite work !) which won at 11/1.

Tipping Legends put up three, the best of which was Arctic Magic advised each way at 16/1, which came third - but I was on win only.

Will go into detail about the new staking plan in another post shortly, but as I am now varying stakes from what I am being advised I will be recording bets advised and bets placed so you can see exactly what I'm up to.

Another Super Saturday

Saturday 15 November

Tipping Legends gave out seven horses on Saturday, and they were on the mark with two of them - European Dream (advised at 12/1, could only get 10/1) which won at 11/2, and Spear Thistle at Uttoxeter (advised at 4/1), which won readily at an SP of 3/1. Nothing doing with their other selections.

Both Graeme and Mathematician put up Joe Lively at Cheltenham, and so another good draw for me, and again I managed to beat the SP - securing the morning 5/1 about the winner.

Graeme was also sweet on Private Be in the Paddy Power each way at 33/1, and was proved correct as he finished third.

Optimum had gone for Barbers Shop ante-post about ten days ago, ran a fine race but eventually had to settle for second. Also topped up yesterday wih Silverburn who was unplaced after blundering at the second last fence. Paul Jones also had an ante-post bet here on Maljimar, unplaced.

Other action was an Isiris insider bet on Spouk at Wolves. The horse came second having been advised each way at 3/1. Backed it win only, have been messing around with the staking plan again - of which more to follow.

The other bet on the horses was from SLH on the all weather - Malinsa Blue who, after leading up until turning out of the back straight, eventuall finished last.

Took the edge off the profits today by dropping £240 on the footy. Been on a good run in recent weeks, but that came to an end today.

Profit on day £866

Profit year to date £14,499

As mentioned above, I've changed the staking plan again, will go into details about it tomorrow. Essentially I'll be doing away with most of the each way bets and backing everything win only, with the stake being in accordance with the price of the horse, rather than the points value which the tipsters have assigned to the bets.

I will review each race / tip on it's merits and will vary things as I see it, however I'm having trouble getting the Isiris clever each way bets on now, and I've missed the place money by one place so often this year that I think I'll do better without it.

Going to try it for the rest of the year and see how it goes. I've checked back my results for 2008, and I would have made significantly more money betting this way - so let's see what happens next....

Isiris Run Comes To An End

Friday 14 November

Isiris gave an each way main account bet Lease Lend at Newcastle. Horse finished third to get most of the stake back, but the winning sequence stops at eight.

Elsewhere, Tipping Legends gave out Andytown at 5/1, a very impressive winner at an SP of 11/4. Nothing doing with their other three selections.

SLH a/w and Mathematician both put up Qaasi at Southwell - horse finishing unplaced.

Also Paul Jones is up and running again with his NH service, but nothing doing there today although Aggie's Lad would have been in the shake up had he not fallen two out.

Quiet Day - no winners

Thursday 13 November

Just four horses advised today.

Two from Tipping Legends were Hot Diamond, finished second to Thundering Star. Ran a fine race but just one too good. The other selection was Thistlecraft who was unplaced.

Other bets were Bazart from Mathematician, unplaced, and SLH's all weather bet was Pic Up Sticks who blew the start and never figured after that.

No Good Today

Wednesday 12 November

Just the one winner today from Mathematician with Smarty Socks at Southwell. He also had a loser.

Graeme played on Antonius Ceasar (e/w) at Bangor, unplaced.

Optimum went each way on Alfadora at Kempton, which was also selected by Tipping Legends - ran a disappointing race and finished unplaced. Nothing doing from the other two Tipping Legends selections.

Finally SLH advised a win bet on Mongorno at Bangor. Horse made a mistake early and never really figured after that.

Losing Day

Tuesday 11 November

Just a handful of bets, with the only winner being Nevada Royale from Isiris (now their 8th winning main account bet in a row, and as you can imagine KB is feeling pretty pleased with himself).

Elsewhere, Optimum put up Brave Villa at Lingfield who finished third and there were three losers for Tipping Legends, all to minimum stakes.

Added to that, no joy on the football, as Swansea were unable to repeat Sundays victory over Watford and so my treble was sunk.

Still feeling pretty rough after my spill yesterday. I'm OK as long as I don't try and do anything silly - like moving.

Lesson learned I suppose, crashing into brick walls is not a good idea. Ouch !!!

Hitting The Wall

Monday 10 November

Hit the wall today, not in terms of the profits, but lost control of the bike today and spent the afternoon in casualty. Nothing broken, but a few bumps and bruises and very shaken up, and this is taking a while to type !!

For obvious reasons, never got to phone any of the tipsters - which was a shame as SLH managed to find Spinning (won 7/1) on his all weather line, and Malko De Beaumont (won 5/1 advised) and Nicozetto (won 7/1 advised) on his main line. Mathematician found Having A Ball (won 10/3 advised) and a loser. Tipping Legends and Isiris both gave out a loser. So an expensive accident for me, missed out on over £1200, but I really ain't bothered about that today.

Still Sergio managed to win the golf in a play off to net me £1000, less the losing bet on KJ Choi, to cheer me up a bit.

Happy Birthday G !!!

Saturday 8 November

It was Graeme's birthday on Saturday, and he was able to celebrate in style after tipping up the winner of the November Handicap, Tropical Strait, at 22/1 !!

So that another brilliant day for me, elsewhere Isiris had another main account bet winner (7 in a row) with Tchico Polos at 5/4. No other winners from any of the six selections of Tipping Legends. Mathematician also drew a blank, and Graeme's other selection on the day was a loser but I guess I can let him off that one !

Added another £260 to the profits with my football bets.

Profit on day £1112

Sunday 9 November

Can't win everyday of course, and nothing doing on a quiet Sunday.

SLH went with Alto Stratus each way at Hereford. Horse also put up as a win bet by Tipping Legends. Didn't see the race but he finished sixth, never looked like winning according to the write up on the Post website. The other Tipping Legends selection was Cosmic String advised each way, and as has been the case so many times this year the horse finished one place out of the money in 4th.

SLH's all weather bet was Eleanor Eloise at Kempton - unplaced.

Loss on day £350

The profit for the year to date now stands at £13,892, and over £6000 in front in the last three weeks !!

Have a chance of adding to this tomorrow as I am on Sergio Garcia in the HSBC golf in Shanghai. He's currently two shots off the lead with 15 holes of his final round to go. Tee off is 7.50 tomorrow morning so I will check in at lunchtime and see how he got on.

50/50

Friday 7 November

A pretty quiet day really. Tipping Legends found Mont Present, advised at 4/1 but eventually winning at an SP of 5/1, which I got courtesy of Bet 365. Their other bet House of Bourbon, advised at 13/2 each way eventually returned an SP of 3/1 - just collected the place money as the horse finished fourth.

Two losers from Graeme and one from SLH were the only other bets on the day.

On and On !!!!

Wednesday 5 November

Nothing to get too excited about on Wednesday, although it was nearly very good.

Optimum provided the only winner for me with Araldur at 10/3. Graeme went with Generous Lad again (just missed out on a big pay day last time) who stayed on late to just snatch third place and landing my each way bet at 8/1. His other two bets were losers. Nothing doing with any of Tipping Legends three selections on the day, and Mathematician's only bet Cocktail Party was a loser.

Last bet of the day was from SLH's all weather team who advised Jayanjay each way at 7/1. As you will know by now, I back all the all weather horses each way and was denied a very good payout as he was run out of it in the last 50 yards and beaten just a neck in his 109th and final race of his career.

Loss on day £145

Thursday 6 November

Another big winning day thanks to Cedrus Libani, advised by the Tipping Legends at 5/1. Had the bet with Bet365 who guarantee the best odds, so was amazed to see that he won at 11/1 !!

Elsewhere, Isiris weighed in with Emirates Champion (e/w) a 9/2 winner against the hotpot Invisible Man at Great Leighs. SLH found Fredo at Haydock - missed the 3/1 because I was busy at work so could only manage 9/4, still better than the SP of 7/4. Steve's other selection, Naiad Du Misselot, finished second - beaten a head - having drifted to an SP of 6/1.

SLH's all weather team had to settle for second again today with Dingaan, again advised each way, at an SP of 8/1. In the same race both Graeme and Mathematician went for Hinton Admiral, so an expensive race with £250 lost there.

Onwards and Upwards

Tuesday 4 November

Just over a week since my last update and the profits continue to roll in.

Not much progress made in the early part of the week, despite a 10/1 winner from Tipping Legends with Cape Royal at Nottingham on Wednesday and two more account winners from Isiris. Graeme Dand managed to snap his losing streak with Lord Theo at Great Leighs last Thursday.

Friday saw Steve Lewis Hamilton select Border Reiver at Wetherby, a 4/1 winner but as last week it was Saturday when things really got going.

Tipping Legends gave Sentry Duty each way at Ascot, managed to secure the 22/1 with Hills, the horse winning backed down to 11/1. SLH gave Sea Storm at Wetherby, advised each way which won at 8/1. He also advised Faasel each way and an each way double on the two which both went down. Graeme Dand found two winners with Tell Henry at 5/1 and State of Play at 5/2, and Quest For Success won at 2/1 for Mathematician. Added to this I got another football bet up for £460. A great day, and might have been even better with three each way bets at 12/1 and 14/1 twice missing the frame by one place.

Sunday was also profitable with Mathematician giving Shoreacres at 3/1, and advised a lay of Carole's Legacy in the same race, and also an each way double with Well Informed (finished third). Missed a trick here as his danger to Well Informed was Ice Bellini which won at 6/1.

Elsewhere on Sunday, SLH's all weather team found Cool Sands - won 11/4, and Graeme Dand advised Innominate 10/1 (3rd), Matsunosuke e/w at 9/1 (3rd), and Idle Talk e/w at 14/1 (finished 2nd having traded at 1/25 in running).

So a decent day on Sunday which with just a bit more luck could have been a great one.

Monday, the start of a new week - Isiris found yet another main account winner (6 in a row now) with Officier de Reserve at 5/4. That was as good as it got, with Graeme giving Flight Command (2nd), and Redarsene (3rd), Maths going for Svindal (unplaced), SLH a/w Aussie Blue (unplaced), Tipping Legends Edgebriar e/w at 10/1 (placed 4th) and Bold Adventure (unplaced), SLH Doctor David e/w at 10/1 (3rd but only two places). Also went with over 2.5 goals in the Newcastle Villa game, so another loss there.

Tuesday, another great day. Star of the show Mr Graeme Dand - right back to form with Ashley Brook advised each way and winning at 14/1. His other two were beaten. No returns from three bets advised by the Tipping Legends. SLH's all weather bet was Kimono My House (won 5/2), and Steve's mainline selection was Dream Falcon, advised each way at 33/1. In the frame everywhere except where it mattered - 4 places and the damn thing crossed the line in 5th beaten less than a length, nice tip though !!!

Profit since last update £2036
