New Staking Plan

Just to go into some detail about the new staking plan, which began yesterday.

Up to Friday, I was working on the following stakes

Optimum £25 per point (max 10pts)
SLH £25 per point (max 10pts)
Isiris £25 per point (max 12pts)
SLH A/W £100 level stake per bet
Tipping Legends £50 per point (max 3pts)
Maths £50 per mention, £100 per account (£50), £200 per account max (£100)
Graeme £50 per point

Been off sick this week after my accident so took some time to re-read one or two of my old racing books, and found this plan which Clive Holt used to use on course. I’ve played around with one or two of the numbers, but I’m happy with how it looks.

Basically, getting fed with backing each ways that finish fourth (getting on for 40 of those this year now !!), and also backing decent priced winners to small each way stakes with the winnings then swallowed up by losers which I’ve had more on. Also a lot of the Isiris main account bets are “clever” each way races (ie with an odds on fav) and I’m struggling to get these accepted now.

Obviously the higher stakes are on the shorter prices, which will win more often, but when I do land on a decent priced winner then I’ll get the reward for it.

This is the new plan....I get the info off the tipsters, then do the best I can with the price – hopefully one of the firms that guarantees best odds will be best about my horse and I’ll get on with them

Worked well yesterday with European Dream, the advice from Tipping Legends was 0.5 pts e/w @ 12/1 which would have been £25 e/w. Couldn’t get the 12/1, but had £60 win @ 10/1, and with Joe Lively – had 2 x £80 win bets on him....lovely !!

Good luck with the new plan mate.

I've spoken about this all year but I'm not a fan of each-way betting. As you will have noticed from my recent selections, I've suddenly turned into a wimp and have been giving each-way much more but I got the feeling the consensus from the subscribers was that they were more happy with that.

I know that betting my selections to win is much better (I record all my results too) but I'm happy to keep the losing run down for the guys by giving some each-way.

I think by taking more control of your staking, you'll probably do much better. I'm very hit and miss as you've found but when I hit, I can definitely hit a few! I think this suits a win only staking plan. Each-way is just reducing my profits but I'm trying to get over this by having a little more on each-way and so far, I've been doing OK!

Look forward to seeing how you do as the year goes on.

Good luck!
