Friday Frustrations

Friday 3 April

Another near miss at a big price as Schindler's Hunt was just beaten by Voy Por Ustedes at Aintree. The blunder he made at the second last didn't help of course,
the final winning margin was a head and another £1700 swing against me.

Inchidaly Rock was on Paul Jones' trends shortlist and this one was beaten a head as well, by the 50/1 shot Time For Rupert. Weapons Amnesty was an expensive loser, being tipped up by three of my services and also the first leg of an each way double for TL.

Followed the same staking idea as yesterday, all the extra bets will be recorded as personal bets and trades.

Off to the national tomorrow so the blog won't be updated until some time on Sunday.

Will have to do the best I can with the prices, if a particular bookmaker price is advised then I will go there, otherwise will use Bet365 as my first port of call.

Best of luck for Saturday, have a great weekend.

Hi JP

I find it hard to see how Tipping legends made 400 plus pts last year , there selections on the horses are poor though they have been unlucky at certain times but the blitz approach with 5/2 to 6/1 shots just seems a waste of time , surely no one can be that successful tipping so many shortish price horses on a daily basis.

Good luck Jp I think you might need it with these guys.

Hi JP, hope things are going well. Feels like Soccer AM & the crossbar challenge at the moment. Seem to be hitting the woodwork all the time. Be interesting to see how the win only approach goes through the flat season.

just need to comment on Smudges post which slightly baffles me. We tip at an average of 9/1 so the shortish prices quote is quite strange. in fact i had 2 tips within the space of 35 mins at Aintree come 2nd at 50/1 & 25/1 - both could have been winners on different days. Roger has on maybe 5 occasions in the last year & i have never tipped below 2/1. It just doesn't pay to do that type of betting. Keep the faith, we're in profit still in 2009 & the reason we made 400 pts profit in 2008 was because we avoid the obvious. The wolf will always devour the sheep!!

hi,

thanks smudge for your comment, and also to JC for his response.

From my point of view, I've got no concerns that over the long term these guys are the business.

The large number of selections doesn't suit everyone, I've a wide variety of services who all do things slightly differently - but the portfolio works well together, that was certainly the case last year and I've no reason to believe 2009 will be any different.

It also fits in with how I play the game, I'm not shy of having a bet (!!!) and I love what I'm doing. That doesn't mean I don't get desperately frustrated from time to time, but I believe in what I'm doing and the services I am using.

If you look at the yearly profit figures to my plan when I put them up tomorrow night, then the TL results will look horrendous, but as JC said, they just cannot get enough them over the line in front at the minute, which is true of so many of my services so far this year.

I set myself a target for 2009 of a £30,000 profit from doing this - I don't think I'm exaggerating when I say with a bit more luck I could be nearly there already !

I've backed six horses in the last week at 16/1 and bigger which have finished second.

The difference between success and failure is so fine in this game at times and my win only staking plan certainly highlights that.

Thanks for your comment smudge, I don't agree with you but I will always welcome what you have to say so keep reading.

JC, thanks for looking in - lets hope April and May this year can emulate 2008 !!!
