Still going the right way

Tuesday 28 April

Back at work today, and as dull as ever - struggling to find any sort of motivation these days. I only work part-time, but I've won more this month from betting than I will earn this year from the job, so it's only a matter a time before I make the jump I think.

Paul Jones makes another appearance this week with his trends for the Punchestown festival. Must admit I struggled to decide how to play these initially - probably due to being at work and being short of time. Followed some of Paul's suggested bets and backed some of those shortlisted as well, probably didn't get the max out of it, particularly the first race but ultimately did OK - getting 14/1 about Rare Bob was the highlight, but a bit peeved that Joncol was run out of second close home as I'd also done the forecast.

The last winner was enjoyable as well, not least for commentator Des Scahill's attempts to pronounce Quantitativeeasing. Don't think he got it right once in about 20 attempts !

Optimum's flat season began today, along with their new staking plan but they're still right out of luck. A split stake bet in the 5.05 at Bath on Crimson Fern and Siren's Gift was undone by Looks Busy who got up on the line to beat Crimson Fern (didn't get clear run) by a nose with Siren's Gift a head away in third.

Not quite sure how I'm going to stake the Optimum bets now - have settled on £50 per point on these 1 and 2 point bets, but I'm certainly not staking 6 points on any of their other advices. Probably stick to £100 level stakes on those. See how the next few weeks go and take it from there.

SLH found Polish Power at Lingfield, who reeled in Nawamees in the last strides, while Tipping Legends came up empty handed from their two bets.
