Glorious Day

Tuesday 28 July

This is a quite a run I'm on at the moment and I was off to a flier today thanks to Drumfire, put up by both Tipping Legends and The Form Guru.

As I said last night, this is a big week for Tipping Legends and they've certainly hit the ground running with Drumfire (16/1 adv) and Finjaan (11/1 adv, 10/1 best available) both winning and Drill Sergeant 3rd at 14/1 having been advised each way.

Another good day for The Form Guru as Chris found Marajaa, advised at 14/1, winning the 5.10 in good style after finding trouble in running.

In the same race, Equine's only bet of the day Salient also found a huge amount of trouble until Kirsy Milczarek managed to get a run in the final furlong to finish fourth.

The Form Analyst and Making It Pay both went for Fossgate at Beverley, came from a long way back to challenge on the outside in the final furlong but it's run flattened out and it eventually finished third, beaten less than a length having traded at 1.41 in running.

Couple of losers for Nose Ahead, including Paraguay who came from the clouds to finish fourth, beaten a length having found a bit of trouble to be "nearest finish" ! That's his running style and one to take on the chin - maybe next time !

Ended the day on a low note though with SLH's exchange line taking the front two against the field in the Worcester 6.15 - but they finished second and fourth.

A very good day though !

As I mentioned at the weekend, I'm away for a few days now - so while I will be betting it's unlikely I'll be able to update the blog until next Tuesday or Wednesday. All being well Goodwood will continue as it started !

Have a great week and best of luck with your betting.

As I was saying !

Monday 27 July

The winning run had to come to an end, and after seven straight days of profit I hit reverse gear today.

Not much action really, and the only successful bet was SLH's lay of Brave Bugsy at Uttoxeter.

Brave Bugsy was advised as a bet by Tipping Legends, but I decided to pass on it as reservations were expressed about the softening ground - and at 5/2 that was enough to put me off. The other TL selection Commanche Luke was weak in the pre-race market, but showed up well for a long way before fading in the home straight.

The Form Analyst had a loser with Gentle Guru, which was very well backed during the day, but weak pre-race which proved correct as the horse was unplaced, doing it's best work near the finish.

Need to book the loss from Luke Donald with today's figures - eventually tied for 24th place.

The most interesting bet I had was one of TFA's horses to watch today - Norcroft in the Southwell 4.45. Now this trading at 55 pre-race so I had £20 at that price with the intention of laying off in-running to get my stake back and then laying again at a low price to secure a profit if it ran well.

Anyone who was around this afternoon will know that Betfair bollocksed things up, and didn't turn the market in play - which was a shame as Norcroft ran very well, was right up there around a furlong and a half out and would surely have traded fairly short had the in-play market been up there. As it was the horse was third at an SP of 33/1.

Glorious Goodwood starts tomorrow and all eyes will be on Tipping Legends and their final special of the year - wish them well and hope they have a cracking week.

Profit and Loss w/e 26/07/09

Amazing week, probably the best ever and things are looking great just now.

Of course the game being what it is, it's quite possible I could give it all back next week - the record for the big meetings so far this year has been pretty poor to be honest.

No point worrying about that though - just going to enjoy the moment !

I'm away for a few days on Wednesday - will be betting while I'm away though. A lot of action but it shouldn't be too difficult for me to get the bets on. Will update the blog until Tuesday night and then the next update after that will be about a week later.

Full House

Sunday 26 July

Another profit today, which ensured I've won every day this week - I think that's the first time that has happened since I started doing this back in October 2007.

Couple of winners from The Form Guru and I also backed Munsef which was given a good word on the Form Analyst Forum. Had a couple of "fun" bets with forecasts and tricasts on the 5.10 at Ascot. Managed to get 2nd and 3rd but didn't have Judge And Jury in my selections.

The Canadian Open golf is still in progress - they've had major weather disruption there and are still only midway through the third round. Play is again suspended due to lightning. Luke Donald is a fair way off the pace (7 shots behind the lead, and 5 off the frame) but with a long way still to go I won't be able to settle this one until tomorrow.

Been a fantastic week though, one of the best I've ever had punting wise - and hopefully the run will go on next week.

Back later with the weekly profit and loss figures.

Some week this is turning out to be !!!

Saturday 25 July

Another big winner for Equine Investments with Bravely, advised as a two point win bet at 9/1, living up to his name - took the lead as they came into the final furlong but was hanging on grimly at the end, and passed the post just a head in front of the favourite Luscivious.

Their other selection Redford was third, advised each way at 11/1.

Clearly they are reading the races very well at the moment, as illustrated by this one liner on the Newcastle 4.45...

"Mastership, Osteopathic Remedy, Cobo Bay and Eton Rifles shortlisted, eace looks a bit too competitive but those are in my value order, I was hoping for a bigger price on Membership".

Mastership was around 7/1 at lunchtime when the message came out - drifted during the afternoon and on-course and won at 14/1 ! - unbacked by me I should add. The other three horses mentioned finished 5th, 3rd and 2nd !

Tipping Legends were back in action today, and they also advised Redford each way. Nothing doing from their other selections though. Hoping for better things with their Goodwood special next week. JC was tempted by Sri Putra in the Ascot 3.15, but instead went for Weald Park - and is the way of things at the moment Sri Putra won at 12/1.

Gags is doing the Making It Pay selections on his own at the moment and tipped up Gallego in the first at Salisbury - got a good ride from his amateur jockey to take the race in the last 100 yards. He was also very keen on Bravely, but was beaten to the punch by EI and once 9/1 became 5/1 within a couple of minutes that was the end of that !

Maths had a rare account bet today, but Formula could only finish a very poor fourth - backed from 7/4 to 10/11, gelded since it's last run and doesn't look too in love with the game, probably there's only one way it will "Winalot" !

Couple of losers from Nose Ahead, and a losing day for The Form Guru despite finding Excusez Moi 3rd at 20/1 adv, and Summer Dancer 4th at 10/1 adv.

Finally, had a great result on the Australian football overnight with an all correct accumulator and was already over £1100 in profit when I got out of bed this morning !

Aye Aye - another good day !

Friday 24 July

Equine Investments are really beginning to find their stride this season and the win of Aye Aye Digby at Newmarket tonight took their profit for this month to over 44 points.

Their other selection All Guns Flying was unplaced at Thirsk, and they also advised to "have a nibble" at William Blake at 8/1 at Ascot, which got outbattled by Fanjura, having traded 1.38 in running.

Backed William Blake anyway as The Form Guru put it up as an each way bet, and Aye Aye Digby was also advised by Chris, who's also having a pretty decent run at the moment.

SLH's Exchange bet was succesful, however Valerius was struggling to best Marufo when that once came down at the last, having also blundered at the previous fence. All turned out fine in the end but when you've had £300 on a short one, you hope for an easier ride than that.

SLH didn't have a bet on his mainline, but was very keen on the chances of Ovthenight as a bet to nothing e/w if all 8 stood their ground and 4/1 was available, thought the horse had a chance of turning over the favourite anyway but decided to pass. As it turned out, there was a non-runner and Ovthenight did win. He also ran through three other races today on his line just for interest and found three winners, including Safari Adventures at 11/2. I don't back these extra marks though.

The Form Analyst had his first disappointing day for a while with neither of his selections finishing in the frame, but Making It Pay found a nice winner with Blessed Place - prevailing by a short head in a six way photo in the last at Thirsk !

That's The Spirit !

Thursday 23 July

Equine Investments were the stars today advising a win bet on Spirit Of Sharjah in the last at Epsom, staying on well inside the final furlong to get the better of Guilded Warrior in the last 50 yards.

Guilded Warrior was The Form Analyst's only selection of the day and my each way bet at 6/1 showed a small profit.

Best news of all though was I decided to put them together in a reverse forecast which paid £55.26 to a £1 stake, so good to get it for £50 !

The other bet from Equine, Omokoroa, finished second.

SLH played on both his mainline and his exchange service, That Man Fox was the mainline selection - advised at a minimum of 14/1, but available at 25/1, and as big as 28/1 with Sportingbet I believe.

I managed to get on at 25/1 before the price was slashed to 9/1 which was the returned SP - the horse finished unplaced.

Just about managing to get the prices on SLH's bets but you've got to be very quick, the bookies are wise to him now and the prices are holding for a minute or two at most.

He played two against the field in the 3.10 Uttoxeter on the exchange line - and they finished first and second. No time during the day today to do any more than just stick the advised bets on, so it didn't cross my mind to put the two in a forecast (which paid over 9/1).

Maths had one selection today, with the old stager The Tatling winning at 5/4, while Nose Ahead's bet today, Rayhani at Sandown, was unplaced.

Finally, Chris The Form Guru found Capone at Doncaster, winning at an advised price of 16/1 (14s was the best I could manage). However I saved £50 on his selections as one of them was That Man Fox (see above), which was only available at 9/1 by the time I picked up the e-mail (28/1 advised) so that was an easy pass !

Inching Forward

Wednesday 22 July

Got another £100 today, which really was the minimum I could have taken out of the day. Following on from £102 yesterday, just edging ahead for the last couple of days - tell you what though, offer me £100 a day for the rest of the year and I'll snatch your hand off !

Equine Investments had two selections today, Parc Des Prince which won at 9/4, having been advised at 4/1 - got 7/2 for my bet. The 4/1 was only available with Ladbrokes and VC, and I would have been knocked back by Ladbrokes and held in a queue long enough to ensure I'd miss all the 7/2 elsewhere so I went with Bet365.

The other bet was a speculative 0.5 point win bet on Redwater River, available at 20/1 with Hills, 18/1 with the Tote, and 16/1 with Skybet - waste of time looking for any of that (and the best prices vanished within seconds so I believe) so got 14/1 with Bet365. Horse actually set off at an SP of 6/1 and ran a very good race, and was only caught in the last 50-100 yards and finished third, beaten about a length.

SLH had a second place on his all weatheR line, Agnes Love advised each way at 8/1 eventually drifted to 11/1 and also led, briefly, in the last furlong before being run down by Bluebok - who has been advised two or three times on this line in the last year or so and never gone in. Obvioulsy disappointed with the second as I still play these win only as you know, but to lose to Bluebok - well, you got to smile really.

Finally Maths advised an each way double on Souter Point (which won) and Barbirolli (which didn't). The advice was to place lay Barbirolli for my stake if Souter Point won, but I was in no position to be able to do this so had to swallow the £100 loss.

So, overall a £100 profit - not to be sniffed at, but that was the worst possible outcome today.

Park Life !

Tuesday 21 July

Strange one tonight. SLH advised a lay of Aberdeen Park. Didn't look as if my lay was going to get matched as the market was well above the price of 2.8 - however right on the off the price dipped sharply and my lay was taken.

All looked well, with the horse looking to be in trouble - pushed along turning out of the back straight, but never worse than 5th, before rallying in the home straight and staying on from the last to win by just over a length.

I was absolutely amazed to discover afterwards that the horse had traded in-running at 1000 (only for £1 to be fair, but even so). Take a chance to see the race and try and work out why !

Otherwise it was a good day for TFG with a couple of winners and a loser for SLH on his all weather service.

Drawing A Line

Thanks to everyone who has commented in response to my post last night – really do appreciate what you all had to say.

When I made my original comments on Friday about Tipping Legends, given their high profile, I was expecting there would be some reaction but I didn’t quite realise what I was letting myself in for.

I certainly wasn’t expecting my motives or my integrity to be called into question, and that really did wind me up.

The fact that many of you highlighted those qualities in your comments meant a lot to me.

I am particularly grateful that JC himself has taken the time to come on here and respond, please make sure you read his comment, and the one on the SBC forum if you are a member there.

Criticism, whether it is well intentioned or not, is never easy to take, as I’ve demonstrated in the last day or two!

However, a bit of healthy debate or comment certainly shouldn’t do any harm to anyone and if I’ve done anything to encourage that this weekend, then I think everyone can take something out of this.

As for the comments about dropping Tipping Legends or any of my other services, I set myself up with a portfolio when I first started and to be honest I had no idea whether it would work or not !

It has certainly been an interesting ride so far, and to my great satisfaction a very profitable one.

It is my intention to continue to use a portfolio of tipsters in the future –they should compliment each other and you hope that at least one or two of them are firing when the others are in the doldrums. It’s not too clever though when they all hit a bad patch at the same time !

There have been quite a few services which have come and gone over the last 18 months or so and no doubt that will continue in the future.

Nothing lasts forever, the only reason I’m doing this is to make money and sometimes that means I have to make judgement calls – I make the majority of my income from doing this and so it’s important I get them right.

One last thing, many of the comments left over the weekend have been anonymous. I don’t want people having to set up a google account or the like to comment on here, but I would like you to put names to any comments you send in – I moderate all comments before they are published and if you want to remain anonymous that’s fine with me.

Happy to take comments on any of the above, but after that I’d like to put this to bed – then everyone can concentrate on the job in hand !

Tipping Legends

No doubt most of you will have read my blog post on Friday regarding Tipping Legends and the comments received in response to it.

I have already responded to most of the comments, but I am going to use this post to address two in particular.

The first comment received yesterday I have already responded to but some of what I have to say applies to this and I will re-produce that here now as well as my reply.

JP's think the above should be removed, looks to me like this blog is starting to
look like a spamming site.

Always respected your post JP but kicking your services even further in hard times is out of order it was not so long ago I remember you increasing your staking plan on a certain tipster in question.

Still 6 months left to go and I hope for your sake you do not eat your words!!!

And my response...

As far as I'm concerned anything which appears on this blog is open for discussion - whether it's me and what I write, the way I back the tips or the services themselves.

I don't know why you say this is starting to look like a spamming site. With respect that is absolute nonsense.

Since I've started doing this, I've made literally dozens of comments about all the services I use, both positive and negative.

I am following these services with hard cash day in, day out and if they are not producing the goods them I'm entitled to say so.

I make an exception for the blogs or sites which put up their tips for free, but the rest are fair game for any praise or criticism coming their way for their results.

If they need a kick, as you put it, they will get one...and if things don't improve then I will drop them - as I have Henry Rix, Mark Holder, Blue Sky Racing and Optimum who between them cost me around £4000 in subs and showed a massive loss !

One last thing, still 6 months left to go for what exactly ?!

This is the second comment received late last night and published on here this evening....

JP you forgot to mention that the Legends are still sitting on 400+ points profit on horses since start of service.

I didn’t forget to mention their past record at all. They achieved great results last year and should be rightfully proud of them – particularly the results from January – May 2008. Indeed it was reading those results that led me to join Tipping Legends in the first place.

I have been around long enough to know that May 2008 was probably a one-off which would never be repeated, but their record otherwise was good enough to persuade me to join.

However it is their performance this year which I am concerned about, and anyone who has joined in the last few months will have similar concerns as they are not making any profit at all.

JC is one of the good honest genuine guys in the game and to allow post on your site using terms as frauds is in my opinion slander. For years he posted tips for free on the OLBG and his record speaks for himself.

Regarding the post which appeared over the weekend, I made it quite clear what I thought of it – that it was out of order and unacceptable. With hindsight I should have moderated or deleted it, but I didn’t and that is unfortunate.

I’ve never been a member of the OLBG website, but I don’t doubt his reputation or record there.

Though you would of realised by now this game is over the LONGTERM, i believe no cash has been lost this year with the Legends??????

First of all it is “would have” not “would of”. I am quite aware that this is a long term game, but also you have to take account of what is happening currently.

If you followed the staking plan to the letter, and if you were able to get on all the bets at the advertised prices, and if you backed the each way double with the two or three bookmakers who were paying four places at Cheltenham (not specifically advised I should point out) then this year you are probably just about level.

But after more than 660 bets this year, that’s hardly a noteworthy achievement. I should make it clear, I don’t have an issue with advised prices – in general you can achieve them or very close to them, but obviously with the bookmaker restrictions becoming more widespread this is increasingly difficult for anyone betting to decent stakes.

I have always made it quite clear on my blog that the plan I followed was my own – to back the tips win only, and it certainly did not prove to be the correct strategy. However, I’ve also shown the profits / losses to advised stakes and prices every week without fail to demonstrate what could have been achieved by following the advised staking plan. I also list full accurate results on a daily basis and none of this has ever been challenged, because everything has been recorded and commented upon correctly.

It is however interesting to note looking at the results published on their own website (and including the 14.5 points lost since the results were last updated), the profit to advised stakes and prices since last August is less than 50 points – that includes the Cheltenham e/w double. Take that out and the profit for a full calendar year is only 30 points.

Good luck with your own agenda JP,
hope you enjoy the days out with greame.

What a pathetic and childish comment. Now I understand where the spamming comment yesterday comes from. Do you really think that this is what my blog is all about ?
The only agenda I have is to make as much profit as possible from betting, and to use a good portfolio of services to help me achieve that.

At the moment SLH and The Form Analyst are the best performing services in my portfolio, and rightfully they are getting plenty of positive comments from me.

It’s funny that Tipping Legends were quite happy to use this blog to try and sell a few subscriptions to their golf service back in January / February, on the back of positive comments and excellent results at the time.

No doubt they’ve attracted a few subscribers to both their services from readers of this blog in the time I’ve been doing this. That’s good news all round isn’t it – if things are going well for me, then obviously it will reflect well on the services that are performing and they will reap the rewards. I know of at least five people who have signed up with SLH on the back of what they have read on here. If Graeme is getting the same response, then I’m delighted for him. They both deserve it.

Since I’ve started I’ve been asked by several services to subscribe to their services or let them proof their results here and I’ve been happy to oblige (MOB, theformguru.com etc). I will do the same in the future if I’m asked and it fits in with the blog.

I’m not the one with the agenda here !!!

By the way do you ever post your bets???

Don’t understand the question. Every bet I place is recorded on here, I do my own bets from time to time on the back of information received.

From first comment -

Still 6 months left to go and I hope for your sake you do not eat your words!!!

I stand by everything I wrote on the blog on Friday. What they’re producing at the moment in terms of results is not good enough, and recent comments in TL daily e-mails show that they know that. I hope they can turn it round – I genuinely want nothing more.

I am amazed frankly that the first negative comment I have made in 12 months of following this service should have provoked such a reaction.

This was not intended as a vitriolic attack on the integrity of the service or the people who run it – unlike another blog that is out there, more a genuine expression of concern from someone who has followed the service for more than a year and is very worried about the current performance.

Maybe Tipping Legends or their friends who've posted these comments would benefit from spending more time reading the form book or speaking to their contacts, rather than worrying about the competition within the industry, or posting anonymous comments on my blog.

Daydream Believer

Monday 20 July

Another cracking day for The Form Analyst who advised just one bet today, Moonage Daydream which won at Beverley (16/1 advised). For a while it looked as if the horse wouldn't get a run, but he managed to find a gap about a furlong out and then collared the leader towards the line.

Equine Investments had one winner from their three tips, with Dragon Slayer winning at an SP of 2/1 - was unable to secure the 11/4 advised as it was cut within moments of the bet being given out, so had to settle for 5/2. Other two selections were unplaced, as were the two given out by Tipping Legends.

High Class Equine had a rare bet, with Astonishment finding one two good at Yarmouth, didn't get the advised 9/1 as the best price available was 15/2 when I saw the tip, and I oculdn't get any of that either.

Nose Ahead had one bet, with Imperial Guest who ran well to finish third, and Chris The Form Guru found a winner with his final bet of the day - Splinter Cell who won by a nose.

Profit and Loss w/e 19/07/09

Standing still at the moment, which beats losing of course but would be good to get things moving in the right direction again.

Just over £2500 off the peak for the year which I hit on 6 July, but it won't take much to pass that mark again. All being well, I'll do it by next Sunday !

Thanks for the comments over the weekend, I've now responded to them.

Pretty Quiet

Sunday 19 July

No flat racing today, and just a couple of moderate jumps cards at Stratford and Newton Abbot.

SLH advised a two point back of Right Option at Newton Abbot which was successful, and paid for Tipping Legends two losing bets.

Nothing doing in the Open Golf this week, Steve Stricker and Camilo Villegas made good starts on Thursday but couldn't maintain their challenges and the two players advised both missed the cut.

Back later with the weekly profit and loss round up, and I'll also respond to one or two comments which have appeared over the weekend.

Started and finished well !

Saturday 18 July

Wasn't expecting too much action today with the overnight going changes leading to non-runners everywhere, but as it turned out there was plenty for me to go at.

Small loss on the day despite a couple of winners, as well as two each way places.

Tipping Legends were busy with seven horses advised, although one was withdrawn. They managed to find Cootehill which won at 8/1, and also Prime Defender second at 6/1 but their other bets all lost and with the stakes advised I only won £25 from their selections.

SLH had a loser on his mainline with Factotum, got half of it back with a successful place lay of Uptown Lad.

Chris, The Form Guru found the winner of the last race of the day - a 3pt win on Kindest at 5/1, and also had Safari Sunup each way - third at 8/1. Had to take 7/1 here as the 8/1 was only available with Betfred, Sportingbet, VC and Stan James - and I wouldn't have got a fiver on between those four firms.

Washout / Washed Up ?

Friday 17 July

A truly awful day weatherwise and the horses weren't a lot better.

Most of my services took the sensible decision to take the day off, but Tipping Legends, Maths and The Form Guru all decided to dip their toe in the water.

As it turned TFG more or less broke level on the day - found Iceman George , advised at 14/1 at lunchtime but subjected to a 30p rule 4 deduction from my winnings. The other bet I collected on was Haajes asvised each way at 16/1, again a rule 4 here - 15p from Boylesports and 20p from William Hill.

Couple of losing selections from Maths, both advised at around 10/1 and both much shorter come racetime. However nothing doing from either of them.

Another five point loss from Tipping Legends and the vibes here are not good at the moment. Certainly JC seems to be suffering a crisis of confidence judging by some of his recent comments on his daily messages - and that feeling is certainly spreading to me.

Hammering away at their bets for no reward day after day is beginning to get me down. Obviously my loss for the year does not correspond to their recommended stakes and that is down to me.

However by my reckoning, unless you credit them with the 17 points they claim for the e/w double advised at Cheltenham which was only successful with a couple of bookmakers, then they now show no profit at all this year to advised stakes and best prices, which as we all know are not always achievable. That's from a total of 650 bets.

Is it really worth all the effort day after day. I know from reading other blogs and forums that other people who use their service are filtering out certain selections based on prices or even days of the week.

Now for me, you shouldn't have to do that - the tipsters themselves should be doing the filtering if any is required before the tips ever get sent out - either the service is profitable or it isn't.

I know that JC regularly monitors and analyses his results, but it's going bloody nowhere at the moment, and we all know it.

Last of their specials coming up at Goodwood the week after next, the pressure is on !

Getting Nowhere Day

Thursday 16 July

Another top day for Graeme The Form Analyst with My Gacho who just got up to win at Leicester at 7/1 (minimum 8/1 advised), and also Lake Chini, given out each way - third at 7/1 (min 8/1 adv).

Otherwise though, it was a very frustrating day - My Gacho put me £960 in front after the first race and I came out winning £53. Wonderful !

Maths had a rare account bet, with Star Of Pompey - traded at 1.07 in-running but beaten a neck by Brave Bugsy.

Tipping Legends had one bet on the day, Magic Echo 1 point each way which finished fourth.

Chris, The Form Guru gave out six bets today. Had one winner with Dome Rocket at 10/1 (15p rule 4), three thirds and two fourths. All added to a profit of a fiver !!!

The 8.40 at Doncaster was the low point of the day where I managed to lose £550 on the same race, had four of the twelve runners running for me, but came up empty handed.

One of those days, but I'm treading water at the moment rather than losing which isn't so bad really.

Plenty of rain around tonight and tomorrow so not expecting too much action on Friday.

At least it was profitable

Wednesday 15 July

A truly dire days racing, it is the middle of summer isn't it ? Well you wouldn't know it with what was served up today.

However, despite only two bits of action all day - including in the very last race, it did ultimately prove to be a profitable day which is all that really matters to me.

Another good winner for Graeme today with Danehillsundance at 5/1 advised (SP 9/4). None of the other services managed a winner though and it eventually turned into a losing day.

Off to a good start

Monday 13 July

SLH got back to winning ways on his mainline with a 2 point win bet on Mhilu. Advised at a minimum of 4/1, I managed to get the top price of 11/2 with Bet 365 before it was quickly cut to 3/1 which was the winning SP.

Two successful bets on the exchange line meant it was a good day for Steve, although his all weather bet was second - pretty disappointed it was beaten by Lucky Rave, which was the first leg of a Tipping Legends each way double, the second part of which (Starstruck Pete) was unplaced.

Tipping Legends other bets on the day were both 0.5 pt e/w bets at 12/1 - the first Tamasu was third of the five survivors of the carnage in the 3.0 at Ayr, which paid for the other bet on Triple Bluff which was unplaced.

The abandonment of the Ayr card knocked out half a dozen of my bets, but still left Chris The Form Guru with four on the day - couple of each way thirds were his best of the day.

Weekend Update

Back home now after a couple of days at York races with Graeme and a few of the guys from The Form Analyst forums.

Was a cracking weekend, and good to put faces to the names of guys I've been chatting to on-line for the last few months.

Away from the net so had to do all the betting on the phone, and pretty much everything done with Bet365 so I did miss one or two of the prices. Although with winners being in short supply, that didn't really matter !

The only bet I placed elsewhere was when I asked Ladbrokes for £75 win @ 9/2 on Inspirina - and they cut me down to £50 ! Time to give it up guys really isn't it ?!

Managed to get out of jail on Friday thanks to Thebes and Inspirina winning late on, to add to the win for Cool Strike earlier in the day, but no joy on Saturday as I drew a blank with the tips on here, and didn't back a winner at the races either.

Esteem Machine second at 16/1,Captain Gerrard second at 9/1 and Balthazar's Gift second at 2/1 were the closest I came to a winner, and the only return on the day was Hoh Hoh Hoh - third at 8/1 in Captain Gerrard's race.

Rare day off from the horses on Sunday, which meant the only betting interest was Adam Scott in the golf. Yet again another one in the frame - joint 4th just three behind the winner, not seen any of it all weekend but if you look at his scorecard it's fairly clear where things went wrong - 66,67,73,66 were his four rounds.

So that's now five who have finished in the top 4 in the last three weeks, but still the big payout is proving elusive. The biggest tournament of all, The Open starts at Turnberry on Thursday - as good a place as any to get the next winner !

For now a quick round of the results since Friday and I'll be back shortly with the profit and loss for the past week.

Back in profit but a frustrating day

Thursday 9 July

Couple of good winners today means I can book a profit on the day, but it was a largely frustrating afternoon with four seconds, including Tabaret beaten a head at 25/1.

Would have been a bit annoyed even if I won as I didn't see any of the advised 22/1, and those gutless w*nkers at William Hill would only give me £7.50 each way @ 20/1, so had the rest with Ladbrokes who don't do BOG of course.

Perfect Silence won for Equine Investments. Didn't see any of the 6/1 advised (it was showing on Oddschecker at 6/1 with Paddy Power, but when I submitted the bet, the price changed to 4/1 - largely academic really as they wouldn't have given me £175 at that time of day) so I took the 11/2 with Bet365. A 10p rule 4 took a bit off the return, but compared very nicely with the SP of 9/4 !

Chris, The Form Guru found Firebet which won at 7/1, but as yesterday he gave most of the profit back, losing 12 points on his other bets.

Tipping Legends had four selections - three of which finished second including Tabaret mentioned earlier.

Just to let you know that the next update here will be on Sunday evening.

Bad Day Again

Wednesday 8 July

Awful day again with the only winner being The Form Guru's 3pt win bet on Misheer at 7/2. Waste of time really as the other bets he gave out cost 10 points and so just 0.5 pts profit.

Elsewhere it was a story of unrelenting misery - Equine gave Northern Flyer (as did TFG) at Catterick, which traded at 1.06 in-running but got beat.

SLH had Mafeking on his all weather line, traded as low as 1.31 in-running but was running on fumes in the final furlong and got collared in the last 100 yards.

SLH's poor run on his mainline continued with Dark Energy unplaced - currently 24 points off the peak set on 12 June, no winners since then.

So it's been a bad couple of days, hopefully get things going in the right direction again tomorrow.

Nosing (or is it Dozing) Ahead !

Monday 6 July

Quiet day in terms of bets with only three advised.

Still a very good profit on the day with The Cayterers winning at 9/1 for Nose Ahead.

A welcome winner for this service, which has been in the doldrums for the last few weeks. Didn't see the race as I dozed off for half an hour while watching ATR.

Probably more to do with having a late night last night than the quality of their output, as poor as it is.

Got an e-mail this morning from theformguru.com saying my free trial was coming to an end and asking if I wanted to continue with their service. Have been trialling it since early May, won 24 points on my first bet with them but it's been downhill since then and am currently 9 points down.

I have had 9 winners from 50 bets, only two of these have been above 2/1. To sum up, too many short prices, not enough winners. Availability of prices is an issue with odds often only available with firms like Sportingbet which is no good to anyone.

They haven't shown me anything that I feel I want to pay for so I'll call it a day.

Good day, hoping for a great night

Sunday 5 July

* Edited 11.25pm Sunday *

Just SLH and The Form Analyst in action on Sunday and the honours again go to Graeme with an 8/1 winner Ingleby Star, and a 13/2 second Comptons Eleven - beaten just a head.

SLH advised three bets on his mainline, but came up short. I had a bit of a break here, as I was out for lunch when the message came through and I'd left my mobile at home. Hence I missed the price on Reflective Glory, advised at a minimum of 14/1 but available as big as 25/1 according to the message. 15/2 was the best available by the time I got the message and checked the prices, eventually returned an SP of 6/1. No future in backing those and so I left it alone.

The other two had also been cut, but they drifted back out to the advised and so I was able to back them. Unfortunately nothing doing with either and two £300 bets went astray.

Got a bit back with the exchange horse, Little Lu who beat the odds on favourite Baron De Doc.

Anthony Kim finished third in the golf. Brief hope when he birdied the first hole to take a one shot lead, but quickly caught by Woods, and he never looked like winning after that. Comprehensively outplayed. Hunter Mahan shot 62 to take second place.

So another near miss, but a welcome payout for me - away last week and missed the 80/1 each way place, so I get something back for the first time since the beginning of May.

Victor Chandler F*ck Off

Anyone else feel like smashing their TV in 'cos they are sick to death of these Victor Chandler adverts which Racing UK are currently showing after every single race.

Now we're going back to having to pay £20 a month to watch the channel, are we really going to have to put up with this day after day.

Victor Chandler, "The punters Bookmaker for over 60 years" apparently.

Well as long as you lose of course, or unless you have one of his special no lose accounts.

Well thanks to winning just over £4500 in the last three years off them (£2500 of which was on one golf bet), I've got a no lose account of my own, as he won't take any more bets off me.

Lies and bullshit on my screens day after day - won't lay a bet unless Betfair tells them it's ok and if you dare take the best prices or win a few quid then you'll get closed down.

Just a suggestion Victor. Why don't you get your smug face off my telly, you smarmy ****.

Profitable Day

Saturday 4 July

Had a decent day with a couple of winners, both at 10/1, but despite this I won less than £700 on the day as only one other tip was placed.

Made a few quid myself today, scalping the markets on Betfair this afternoon, as well as getting £208 on the Aussie soccer overnight, but I lost £200 on the tennis having backed Venus Williams to win in 3 sets.

Yet again the golf has potential, with Anthony Kim in a four way tie for the lead towards the back end of his third round as I write this on Saturday evening. Tiger Woods is there as well, so no thoughts being entertained of a decent win just yet, but a big payout is long overdue.

Lousy Day

Friday 3 July

After a great day yesterday, it was back to earth with a bump today. There was only one winner advised, and I was late getting the message and so ended up not backing it.

Tipping Legends advised a 1pt win bet on Classic Legend at 12/1. By the time I saw the message there had been a non-runner and the best price available was 8/1 (7/1 with B365, BOG). While I was weighing up my options the 15/8 favourite was pulled out, and the price crashed again. More non-runners later on meant the horse eventually won the race (just) at 9/4, with only five of the 11 runners declared this morning taking their chance. A rule 4 of about 60-65p from the early prices I would imagine, so I probably missed a 4/1 ish winner.

Could have done with that really as nothing else went right for me, with three seconds and a third the best results, but no returns on any of them.

Winners Galore

Thursday 2 July

A cracking day with no fewer than six winners advised. No big prices but when a few go in you don't need them.

The Haydock card was ravaged by non-runners after the forecast rain failed to materialise.

As a result, the two winners and one place I had there were all hit by rule 4 deductions - particularly The Form Analyst's winner, Hawridge King - advised each way at 6/1, won at 2/1 with a 55p deduction from the morning price.
