Bloody awful !

Thursday 27 August

With the way the tips came out today, it was either going to be a very good day or a ver bad one with many of the selections being given out by more than one service.

As it turned out, the only positive note was the first winner for the Form Guru under the new staking plan, but otherwise it was a shocker.

Tipping Legends gave out two 1 point each way bets, but Prince Rhyddarch and Raptor were both unplaced, which meant the other suggested bet on the day - a reverse forecast double also went down. The text stated a 0.5 pt r/f double, which equals two points staked - but when I got home tonight and had chance to read the e-mail it stated "a very small r/f dbl, will log it as a 0.5 dbl", so basically I had twice as much on as was advised.

Raptor was also given by Nose Ahead and TFG, who also both went for Magic Echo in the same race.

With The Form Analyst going for Misphire in the race, it meant that I had £800 on the race - crazy really.

Equine Investments and Maths both gave out Pokfulham, which finished third yesterday, but unplaced today.

The final slap in the face today was the win of Lordship in the last race at 13/2 - given out by two services yesterday but nothing today.

So a dismal day, the fourth losing day in a row with over £3000 lost since Monday, see what Friday brings !

Sorry to see you lost so much lately, what I wanted to ask you is how do you actually get on placing bets of £100-£200 when a lot of bookies will restrict your account after only winning a few big wagers??
Are you using all your family members?? The only reason I ask, is because I was thinking of doing something similar to what your doing but have been put off by peoples stories of being restricted by bookies. How do you get around this problem?

Hi JP. Keep the money!!!

This is the best summer on record, but it has to end at some time, and with it's demise the betting has to be more prudent as the wins are very likely to ease from now on. EI will likely still come out in front, but surely it would be wise now to reduce stakes? It's tough when you appear to have plenty available to keep stakes at a good level, but the drops may be swift and sharp as conditions change. I'm battling with myself to be more sensible, trying not to go over given advice at least. For example, today's 1.5 points advice was rounded up to £20...a small matter, but it all adds up. Laurence has done some serious thinking about staking advice over the years, and his caution has paid off more than once. You have a decent bank, it would be awful to watch it dip by the thousand.
So, a brief synopsis: please be careful out there JP!

Hi anon,

It is getting very difficult to place bets in my own name.

If you look at oddschecker, only VC have closed my account but Bet365, Betfred, Sportingbet, Skybet and Stan James have effectively closed me by restricting me to buttons.

Although Bet365 did at least play the game with me for a long time.

Can gets bits on with Boyles and Blue Square, but not much more than £15 - £20 at a time.

Can sometimes get on for fair amounts with the Tote but no hard and fast rules.

The big 3 all restrict me, but I can still get bets on if I split things up a bit.

I am also starting to use Betfair when possible, although for the fast moving bets with SLH and EI, it is a waste of time with no liquidity.

I have got other accounts in place now, try and spread the bets around a bit more, but with EI and SLH speed is everything - if you take much more than a minute getting your bets on then you've missed the prices.

Have a go at it, it's not an easy ride and getting the money on is problematic - but go for it. Take 'em for every penny you can !

Hi Steuart, pretty hard going this week as you've seen from all the services.

Can't win every week and what I've done so far this year has far outweighed anything I expected.

Going to keep cracking away at it though - don't intend reducing stakes on EI selections although that might get done for me if our bookmaker friends get any less cooperative.

Taking a long break at Christmas but full steam ahead until then !

All the best
