Top day again

Tuesday 10 November

Couple of winners from TFG and one bet, one winner from Tipping Legends meant another very profitable day.

As usual it was a pain in the arse trying to get on while being stuck at work, and it looks as though I might as well close my Ladbrokes credit account.

The Form Analyst put up two today - Paganstar Princess advised each way at 8/1. Managed £20 each way on the net and phoned Ladbrokes up. Asked for £50 e/w and after putting me on hold for a couple of minutes their trading department kindly offered a tenner each way.

The other TFA bet was Hey Big Spender at Exeter - 14/1 against an odds-on shot always presents problems getting on and today was no different. Managed to get 50 e/w with Hills by putting it in an each way double with Copper Bleu @ 4/5. Then tried on my phone with Ladbrokes on the net, who wouldn't let me have anything so rang them up. Asked for £25 e/w @ 12/1 and offered £10 to win.

The lad on the other end of the phone seemed surprised when I said no bet. First time I've used the account for about three months, probably be the last. Managed to get it all on eventually by splitting the bet up six ways, worth it in the end with the horse coming second to the odds-on fav.

Vinmix De Bessy was the Tipping Legends selection, advised at 11/2 which I couldn't get. Got £50 on with Lads this time at 5/1 and their BOG paid out at the SP of 6/1. The other £150 was done on BF at just less than 5/1 after commission.

Got the TFG message late so all the bets were done on Betfair, and two winners with Echo Point and Fighting Chance. Beat the SP on both, although got less than the advised prices - whether they were available I don't know.

Apart from the SLH Private Service, who else would you recommend for selective bets, given out at regular times of day so you can get prices?

What is your current view and subscription status with Tipping Legends? Would you recommend joining them? I have had some very negative views from other sources but they seem to be doing well at the moment.

Hi,

Apart from SLH and Isiris who give their selections out on national rate phonelines, the other racing services I use send out their tips via e-mail. All apart from TFG also send them via text as well.

None of them have set times, apart from EI which is not taking new subscribers anyway.

You see the results on here every weekend for each service which gives you an overview of what I have achieved this year.

As for getting prices, that is my biggest problem at the moment as you will have read, but if you've got accounts with most of the bookies who use oddschecker you should be fine most of the time if you spread your bets around a bit. Also use BOG bookies where possible.

Hope this is of some use to you.

Hi Jonathan,

As you probably know, I followed TL for more than a year until the end of August this year when I decided to stop followed a long spell of disappointing results.

However, they restructured the service in early September and they've been on a great run since then. I was still getting the e-mails everyday and monitoring results and jumped back on-board in the middle of last month.

If you look at their website, they do show all their results on the homepage (currently to 31/10/09) and as you've seen I put them up on here every night.

JC is in very good form at the moment, so as good a time as any to join if you're interested.

Think long-term as always but good luck if you do get involved.

Hey JP,
Thanks to your blog, I recently joined TFG. I got TFG's email about 12.50pm and I only use betfair to place the bets. FYI, I got 3.85 for Fighting Chance and 9.2 for Echo Point within 10mins of getting the email. Like yourself, Im at work during the day and only use my phone to place my bets. Anyway, just want to say that I enjoy reading your daily blog and please keep it up. Thanks.

JB says,
Does anyone on this blog know of a good NBA or NFL tipping service at the same standard as SLH Private and Equine Investments, with a yield of 15%. season upon season
American sports and American bookies stake limits would be no problem as american bookies seem to cater for the exclusive high roller, $2000 single bets and such like.
Just need to find a realible service.

Hey JP
Just wondered on your profit figures you posted the other day if you've factored in subscriptions prices?

Only reason I ask is that I worked out the other day I need to hit £400 a month to break even to pay for fees. Which is ok in terms of overall profit but it's not a small amount!

Cheers - table was massively interesting. your spreadsheet work is far better than mine!!

Hi Walt,

I got the message a bit later than that so slightly worse with the prices. Also too busy to monitor the markets this afternoon to try and do a bit better.

It's a rollercoaster following TFG, but as long as you work to a decent bankroll and know what to expect then just enjoy the ride !

Thanks for your kind words and best of luck to you.

Hi JB,

Don't know anyone myself - was thinking about the NFL a couple of weeks ago as I don't have much happening on a Sunday night apart from updating here !

Hi Malcolm,

I'll account for all subs etc at the end of the year. Will have shelled out around 7.5K by the time I've finished in 2009.

SLH is prepaid to end of Nov 2010, Isiris and Punter Profits to end of Aug next year. The football subs are for the season. TL renewal due at the end of this month and TFG and Maths are both on monthly subs.

Add to that the additional cost of phone calls, mobile internet, Sky / RUK subs etc and you're looking at £650 - £700 per month if you want to work it out that way.
