Small profit - could have been better

Wednesday 24 February

The Form Guru finally got off the mark for me when Tempting Paradise won at Ludlow this afternoon.

The only disappointment was the price - did all the TFG bets on Betfair this afternoon as I was out and about and got little more than 11/2 on the horse, 13/2 was the advised price and the SP finished up at 9/1, shame !

Nothing doing with any of the other four tips from TFG.

A 7/4 winner and a loser for Equine Investments, meant a profit of £75 on their business today which covered the bet on No Wonga, from Punter Profits.

Managed a profit on my own bets today thanks to a small bet on Marodima.

I noticed tonight that Formbet had Marodima as one of their picks today, but I'm not yet fully up to speed with their service. Looks very promising though from what I've seen so far.

Glad to see you back and at it, JP. Interesting that you have taken on

Formbet - I too have signed up with them to use them as one of my secondary services. A vast amount of information that I don't know what to do with just yet, so will be watching your attack closely, for sure.

Best of luck, JP.

Have you noticed how Steve Hamilton has really gone off the boil this year? There've been some poor results since the service resumed in January. We're now nearly in March and he only has about 8 points profit this year and minus 20 points if you go back to 1st October last year, when I joined the service. It is poor and I paid £650 for 6 months of his advice and I'm not particulary impressed. I will stop subscribing at end of March if things don't improve.

JB says
Time will tell if SLH can make it pay now that he doesnt give out the double figured odds bets.i.e the 20/1 EW 16/1 EW shots like brett maverick.
He cant give those out anyone more as price collapses. I believe he has around 200 subscribers now. In

Hi Darren,

Formbet looks very promising. Like you I haven't really got to grips with it yet, but I'm working on it !

Adam,

Think you ought to check your records. According to the results I've got he's 20 points ahead so far this year, after losing around 8 points between October and December.

Second half of last year was disappointing - he made more than 150 points last year, but lost 20 points over the last 6 months.

Unfortunately, you can't guarantee profits in this game, or when they might come along.

See where you get to by the end of March and have a look at it then.

Hi JB,

Think we talked about this last year, there were a couple of big ones last year (33/1 and 20/1) which would knock the profit down to 100 points.

As I've said, second half of last year wasn't good, but he's off to a decent start this year and hopefully he can build on that.

Best of luck to you.

How do you know SLH is 20 points ahead this year since you only resumed following his service in mid-February?! I think you'll find he is less than 20 points in profit since 1st January. To my memory he has only had 4 winners and about 12 losers (including 2 x 4pt losses and 2 x 3pt losses).

I spoke to Rob Lewis Hamilton (Steve's brother), who is based in London and looks after the All Weather service. He said Steve would be happy with 10 points profit per month; therefore 120 points profit per year. On average that is - some months will always be better or worse than others. If you are betting £50 per point like myself, you would make a handy £6,000 per year (that's £500 per month). This sort of additional income covers my utility and food bills each month so I am more than happy - however, I would never give up the day job and rely on it solely! Good luck in your quest JP!

The Football Elite sister AW Service with Matt is outstanding. Three winners this week at good prices. My favourite price range 5/1 - 8/1. I play level stakes: £100 win or £50 ew. I prefer that approach than messing around with staking plans advocated by the likes of SLH. I don't agree with them in principle. I like to be in control of my betting and a staking plan DOES NOT allow that. No way. As went to show with those 4pt shockers from Steve last week. Control stakes, minimise losses. That is the only way to win.

Mate. It seems to be like u need just EI, SLH and FE. Everything else you follow is unreliable mate. Too many bets too.

Do you know how many members EI limit their membership too? I am on a waiting list but just wondered how many members there were already.

Anon,

I've got a full list of his results from the start of the year. Other people I know follow his bets,he had 3 winners before I re-started (including an e/w double) and he's had 1 since.

Hi George,

steady 10 points a month would do me fine.

Sounds like you have a sensible approach and I hope you have another good year.

Best of luck to you.

Danny, Everybody has their own ideas about the game, whether it's win or each way, staking plans or whatever.

Staking has certainly been the biggest issue I've had since I've been doing this.

If I can find some time, I'll have a look at SLH's results to level stakes - it'll be an interesting exercise if nothing else.

However, I've made around 350 points from his advice in the last couple of years and I'm very happy with that !

I'm a big fan of Matt's Football Elite service, and I'm looking at his A/W service at the minute.

Best of luck to you.

Hi Nathan,

The three you mention have been outstanding over the last few months, but I prefer to use a larger number of services in order to spread the risk.

I've set my staking plan up so that I stake more on those which I consider will produce the best results (the three that you name incidentally)but as I keep saying there is nothing guaranteed.

If those three happened to under perform, then I would hope that the others would come in with decent results.

I've constantly been evaluating things ever since I started with this, and there've been quite a few services which have come and gone.

I'm happy with what I have now, and with the number of bets - but I can more or less guarantee that the portfolio I have now will have changed by the end of the year.

All the best
JP

Hi anon,

I don't know how many members EI currently have at the moment, but there are no more spaces on the waiting list for 2010.

If you're already on the list then you may hear something soon.

SLH is never 20 points in profit since 1st January. Show me the evidence! He has only had 4 winners accruing 35 points (the last one had a 15% rule 4 which screwed it too) but there have been at least 20 points of lost profit in my notebook... I make that 15 points max since 1st January.

5 bets from FE this evening - let's hope they go in. Do you ever put these in a speculative accumulator? I think I might just do a £10 one for the hell of it. Would win close to £400!
